✨ A new name. A broader mission. The same heart for change. ✨

If you’ve been here since we launched as Kindness Academy, you know we dreamed of opening a charter school in Warrensburg—a place where kids could learn in a nurturing, community-centered environment. That dream hasn’t disappeared, but due to state-level barriers outside our control, it’s not something we can build right now.

So we’re evolving. Because our commitment to this community is bigger than one path.

Here’s where we’re headed now:
🏡 Supporting our most vulnerable neighbors through mutual aid
📚 Offering workshops and community education to empower and connect
🤝 Creating space for collaboration, creativity, and local leadership
🌱 Building the kind of community infrastructure that helps everyone thrive

Education is still part of our mission—it just looks different today. And our core values haven’t changed: equity, care, access, and rising together.

Thank you for sticking with us. We’re just getting started—and there’s room for you here.

Welcome to the Kindness Collective Foundation.

📣ICYMI📣

The Warrensburg School District sent out an email 6 days ago to families asking their opinions for moving to a 4 day school week.

Survey Closes TODAY(Oct 14) at 4pm.

Please go take it.

A 4 day school week can be detrimental to families and children, not only academically but economically. We are already in a childcare crisis here in Warrensburg, where are all those kids going to go on the extra day off while their parents are working?

If we want to retain teachers, we should pay them better.

Hey there friends! It's been a while and I thought it was time for an update!

If you don't have time to watch the video here are the highlights:

1. 👎👎👎We can't open a charter school without the support of our local school board. At this time, they are not willing to even have the conversation with us. 👎👎👎

2. 🥊🥊We haven't given up hope!🥊🥊 We are lobbying at the State Capitol as often as possible when session is in. Unfortunately, it is election season and no one is willing to sponsor Statewide Charter Expansion. (If you want to get involved check out Missouri Charter Public School Association and Children's Education Alliance of Missouri - CEAM)

3. 📚🏡🧠We are moving forward by starting up a licensed early learning center! This will allow us to easily transition into a K-12 charter school when legislation is passed or when a new school board is open to the conversation.

4.⬇️⬇️ Drop you thoughts and suggestions in the comments on what you are looking for in an early learning center!⬇️⬇️

5. 🗳️🗳️PLEASE GO VOTE!🗳️🗳️ Stevens for Missouri and Raymond James are our local candidates that support FAIR education, please look them up and make an informed decision!

Primary Election is August 6th and General Election is November 5th!

The day that Stephanie & Lauryn came into my office for an interview as a part-time Food Service Worker, is a day I will never forget. Lauryn is so full of energy, happiness, and s***k it was impossible not to hire her. I am glad to see she is still working in the school cafeterias and enjoying her work.

It is so important to give everyone an opportunity to learn and grow. I am so proud of Lauryn and how far she has come!

I'm Heather Marie, the founder of Kindness Academy and have lived in Warrensburg for the last decade. I studied early childhood and elementary education in college and have worked in positions with children since graduating in 2008.

I have coached youth sports at Warrensburg Parks & Rec, volunteered with Girl Scouts, Free Mom Hugs, Optimist Club and am a founding member of Johnson County Christmas Cheer.

I moved here originally when I was hired on as the Food & Nutrition Services Director for the Warrensburg School District. I spent 7 years at the District improving meal access and choices for students, expanding access to summer meals and after school snacks for our low-income families and implemented farm to school and farm to table programs.

When I left the district I moved on to a Youth Residential Treatment Facility, where I was extensively trained in Trauma Informed Care. I worked with at-risk youth daily, teaching them cooking and other various life skills.

From there I worked with the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education auditing Charter Schools & Residential Care Centers for compliance. This is where I was first introduced to the concept of charter schools.

During this time, my oldest daughter had been struggling greatly with the transition from a small daycare to the Warrensburg School District. She has sensory issues and separation anxiety, and the loud, large school didn't have the same personal feeling it did as our small daycare had. Teachers were insensitive to her needs. Disruptive and sometimes destructive students were left unchecked and my concerns dismissed. Many days left both of us crying by the time we got to school.

I now see the same situations unfolding with my youngest, who started Kindergarten this year. I am friends with several people in the Warrensburg community who have neurodivergent children or those with special needs that are going unmet.

I see posts and know friends whose children are being bullied constantly, without repercussion, no matter who they contact within this district. I see them all struggling to be heard and seen and I am tired of sitting idly by.

Check out the current ranking on the Warrensburg School District. https://moschoolrankings.org/district/?id=1005 The data directly from DESE's MSIP 6 can also be found here: https://apps.dese.mo.gov/MCDS/home.aspx

❤️🧡💛💚💜💙Kindness Academy is how we fight back for our children, our grandchildren and our future.❤️🧡💛💚💜💙

👏Our children should not be afraid to go to school to learn.👏

So who am I?

I am a mom, an education advocate and humanitarian who is on a mission to give our community a secular , inclusive, PUBLIC educational option. An option that will embrace differences, focuses on finding the right learning strategy for each individual child and uses social emotional techniques to make sure we are raising a kinder, more understanding and inclusive group of humans.

Advocating for School Choice in Jefferson City today with Children's Education Alliance of Missouri - CEAM

We don't believe that education should be dictated by political party. Historically School Choice has been politicized negatively by Democrats and positively by Republicans.

Why can't this issue be bipartisan?

❤️🧡💛💚💜💙 At Kindness Academy we believe in finding the best choice for every student and that is not always the choice they are given. ❤️🧡💛💚💜💙
