WARREN TOWNSHIP, NJ – Warren Township Chief of Police Robert W. Ferreiro announces the arrest of
the following listed adults in relation to an incident in Warren Township:

Jalen A. Cherenfant, age 20, of Irvington, NJ
Charges:
2nd Degree, Burglary by Entering an Occupied Residence
2nd Degree, Conspiracy
2nd Degree, Eluding
3rd Degree, Receiving Stolen Property
Disorderly Persons Offense, Burglary Tools
Disorderly Persons Offense, Criminal Mischief

Lamont L. Crumbley, age 21, of Irvington, NJ
Charges:
2nd Degree, Burglary by Entering an Occupied Residence
2nd Degree, Conspiracy
4th Degree, Eluding

Chief Ferreiro stated that on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at approximately 4:10 AM, Warren Township Police received a 911 call from a resident reporting that individuals were actively attempting to gain entry into their home.

Responding officers located an occupied suspect vehicle at the scene, which was determined to be stolen. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it drove toward them, striking a police vehicle before fleeing at a high rate of speed in an attempt to elude apprehension. Officers initiated a pursuit, deployed a tire deflation device and pursued the suspect vehicle for several miles. The suspect vehicle ultimately became disabled, and three occupants were taken into custody after attempting to flee on foot.

Warren Township Police thank the Bernards Township Police Department, Watchung Police Department, Long Hill Twp. Police Department, Somerset County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, and the New Jersey State Police Somerville Station for their assistance with this incident.

Chief Ferreiro stated that the department will continue to maintain a strong and visible presence and will respond decisively to individuals who target homes in Warren Township. “Our residents have the right to feel safe in their homes—not worried—and we will continue to take swift and deliberate action against those who threaten that sense of security. Crimes involving residential burglaries, whether homes are occupied or unoccupied, are taken seriously, and those responsible will be pursued and held accountable.”

charges are merely an accusation and that the defendants are presumed innocent until proven
