Recent changes to Vermont Medicaid ABA policies have reduced therapy hours, increased cancellations, grown waitlists, created provider staffing challenges, led to fewer providers accepting Medicaid, and created concerns about service reductions and program closures.
Providers have reported reducing services, pausing new Medicaid intakes, discharging children from treatment, and even closing locations as they struggle to continue serving Medicaid beneficiaries.
