Join us for a thoughtful exploration of how a recital unfolds in Hindustani classical concert, and how sound shapes a story in the moment. Drawing from her journey from economics to music, and rooted in the Jaipur-Atrauli tradition while engaging with diverse vocal genres, she will share what shapes an Indian classical vocal presentation and how artists and accompanists together create an experience that is both deeply thought and beautifully unscripted. She will be accompanied on tabla by Rigved Deshpande.

What a beautiful beginning to the 2026 music season at the Gopal residence, the home of SoundTraditions. The evening unfolded in an intimate, listening-filled space as the resonant sound of the sarod brought a deep sense of stillness and grounding to the room. Pratik ji’s thoughtful exposition of Bhimpalasi, followed by a tender and moving rendering of Charukeshi, held the audience with quiet intensity, while Tejovrush ji’s sensitive, well-modulated tabla accompaniment added both balance and brilliance through measured, skillful rhythmic expression. As the music gave way to dinner and warm conversations, the evening carried forward the spirit that makes these gatherings special: artistry shared in real time and community woven through presence. Behind each such evening are many generous hands supporting food, audio, stage setup, flowers, seating, logistics, and cleanup. We are forever grateful for the guidance and encouragement of Mitali di, Krishna ji, and of course Lekha didi, Haresh Bhai, Mohan Kaka, and Medha Kaku—an endless source of inspiration steering us forward. What remains long after the final note is that rare bond between artist and audience, built phrase by phrase into a shared experience of joy.

Dear SoundTraditions Family,

We are thrilled to invite you to our Diwali Sandhya concert on October 19th! This special event will feature the renowned exponent of the Gwalior gayaki, *Vidushi Shashwati Mandal*. She will be accompanied by the *Dr. Mausam* on harmonium and our very own *Shri Suresh Ramaswamy* on tabla.

The Gwalior style is known for its remarkable combination of technical precision, artistic depth, and vocal mastery. It emphasizes the glorious Ashtang Gayaki, focusing on developing the natural qualities of the voice to effortlessly traverse three octaves with full-throated and majestic Aakaars. Shashwati ji, a master of this tradition, will present rare compositions like *Ashtapadi*, *Trivat*, *Chatrang*, and *Tappa*, offering a truly unique and delightful experience for our audience.

Please enjoy this brief teaser and look out for more details in an upcoming flyer.
