UAW REGION 1 SECOND ANNUAL KICKBALL TOURNAMENT

Saturday was all about solidarity, unity, and plain old FUN!

Our UAW Region 1 members came together for our Second Annual Kickball Tournament, and the competition was real—but so were the laughs, the fellowship, and the good times.

Sometimes solidarity looks like standing together on the job, and sometimes it looks like getting together outside of work, building relationships, having fun, and enjoying each other as one union family.

Congratulations to our 2026 Kickball Tournament Champions! And thank you to every team, member, family member, and supporter who came out and made the day a success.

Great competition. Great people. Great memories.

99% STRIKE AUTHORIZATION — VENTRA CANADA

On Saturday, more than 300 plus members at Ventra in Canada came together for an important and informative meeting—and when the votes were counted, 99% voted YES to authorize a strike.

Director LaShawn English joined the membership, leadership, and bargaining committee for an important conversation about what a strike authorization vote means and the power behind it.

A strike authorization does not mean we are automatically going on strike. It means our membership is giving the bargaining committee another powerful tool in the toolbox as they continue fighting at the table for a strong contract.

And 99% sends a strong message: our members are informed, engaged, and united behind their bargaining committee.

Now the work continues at the bargaining table. We will keep standing together, using every tool available, and working toward the great contract our members deserve.

99% UNITED. 99% READY. 100% SOLIDARITY.

UAW Region 1 — Marching for Our Rights

UAW Region 1 was proud to stand in Washington, D.C. for the 63rd Anniversary of the historic March on Washington and the Defend the Vote march.

More than six decades after working people marched for jobs, freedom, and equality, the fight continues. We showed up alongside union brothers and sisters from across the country because voting rights, civil rights, and economic justice are workers’ rights.

It was powerful to see our Region 1 members standing together, raising our voices, and carrying forward the legacy of those who came before us.

Faith, Fellowship & Solidarity — Region 1 Chaplaincy Council Prayer Breakfast

What a beautiful morning of faith, fellowship, and solidarity as the UAW Region 1 Chaplaincy Council gathered for its Prayer Breakfast at the Regent.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our members to come together, lift one another up, and be reminded of the strength we have when we stand together. A special moment came when Sister Nalesha from UAW Local 228 blessed us with a beautiful song that truly touched the room.

Thank you to our Chaplaincy Council and everyone who helped make today’s prayer breakfast such a meaningful event. There is power in prayer, strength in unity, and always solidarity in Region 1.UAW Local 228UAW Region 1

Congratulations, UAW Local 44 Leadership!

Assistant Director Ray Pecoraro had the honor of swearing in the newly elected leadership of UAW Local 44.

Stepping into leadership means stepping up to serve the membership, and we congratulate each officer who has accepted that responsibility. Region 1 looks forward to working alongside this leadership team as they represent their members, strengthen their local, and continue moving our union forward.

Congratulations to the entire UAW Local 44 leadership team. Wishing you a strong and successful term!

Solidarity from UAW Region 1!

Getting Ready for the Bargaining Table

With newly elected leadership @ UAW 9699 in place and a contract expiring this December (formerly Huron Inc.), we are getting ready to head to the bargaining table.

Region 1 was invited into the plant to walk the facility, talk directly with members, and hear what they want to see addressed in their next contract. This plant has been a staple in the community for years, and while there are challenges ahead, preparation starts with listening to the people doing the work every day.

Thank you to the leadership and membership for welcoming us in and sharing their concerns. Now it’s time to take those concerns, prepare, and get ready to bargain.
