Warren Recreation Department - Competition Cheerleading
**Registration Dates: Monday October 5th and Wednesday October 7th
**Who: K-6th graders in MSAD/RSU 40 school district.
**Time: 5:30-7pm
**Where: Warren Community School GYM/Cafeteria Lobby – please enter through the playground side lobby doors (not the side GYM door as the GYM will be in use)
**How much?: $45 per cheerleader, there is a sibling discount when signing up more than one sibling…..please provide exact change cash or check (or money order) made payable to “Town of Warren”.
**Practices will be held on either Wednesdays OR Thursdays (exact date for a “start date” will be determined by coach and you will be notified of this date) and Sundays (exact date will be determined by coach and you will be notified of this start date). All practices must have active participation of your cheerleader.
**ALL scheduled practices are mandatory. Please note, there will be times when the schedule will need to be adjusted due to weather issues, school events, etc.
**Cheerleader cannot belong to another competitive cheerleading team. Tumbling classes at another GYM (or even participating in another sport) is absolutely fine as long as they don’t interfere with Warren Rec scheduled cheer practice dates & times and competition dates.
**Guaranteed NO practices on November 25th, 26th & 29th and December 23rd, 24th & 27th. See less

Warren Soccer Update! Rosters were sent out this morning. If your a coach, please check and let me know if you got yours. There are two squads that are supposed to go tomorrow. If you get a late message or call this evening, please understand that I messed the e-mail address to one coach up and she may be reaching out now(THAT IS ON ME, NOT HER!!!) and my other coach may be reaching out as well...we got our wires crossed and he found his roster this evening. The plane is in the air, but it was a rough take-off! Shirts have been ordered and I will bang away at a schedule for 1/2nd and Pre-K/K. If your a Pre-K/K, you will have a game at 9:00, if your 1/2nd, you will have a game at 10:00. You may also have a game at 11:00 too, as there are only three teams. I will finally reach out to the Union coaches and see what they want to do with the game times for the team that plays twice(If they want to shorten them). I'm sure they are up and running. Whew! Warren Pre-K / K : One of my favorite groups and you can't watch these kiddos without a smile on your face! I'm sitting at 3 squads for this group and a Union squad will jump in to make it an even four, so no extra game. We will have Coach Sam and Coach Kirsten, Coach Jordan and Coach Olivia and Coach Steven and Coach Kelly. Coach Sam would like Mondays, so I will reach out and see if we want to try Monday this week on short notice or if he would like to do another night this week and then do Mondays going forward. Coach Jordan is looking at Thursdays for their night and Coach Steven will look at Wednesdays. Those would be 5:00 starts, although Coach Steven will probably shoot for 5:30 for that squad. I will be looking to start every level this week, with first games this next Saturday the 19th. We will shoot for(weather permitting) a five week season that would end on the 17th of October. It's really pushing it to go any later, but we will see! That would be the same for 1st/2nd. I will see you all soon!!!!....John⚽️⚽️

Warren 1st/2nd: This group will be smaller this year and will have one team of 7 and one of 6. I won't be surprised if that number increases. A Union team will jump in to make it 3 teams, so we will need one squad to play twice. That's tough and it was rough when we did it in basketball, so I'll work with the Union coaches on some solutions, like possibly playing only 1/2 hour, or 45 minutes to not burn them all out. The last thing I want is for kids to think soccer is a chore. I have two prospective coaches, one for each and I'll possibly jump out there with them, especially in the beginning to help out. It wouldn't be terrible to have them both practice the same night and play each other as well and I could help both coaches! I'll work with both and won't throw names out there until I'm sure they both are good with it and let them know I'll do what I can to support them and possibly find more help! I'll get rosters done and out and see when they want to practice. They will be starting this week! If your another parent that is on the fence, you can jump in!

Warren 3/4th soccer: We will have two squads this year and the first games for that level won't be until next Saturday, so a chance to get one practice in at least. I have Coach Willis and Coach Cox for one Warren squad and Coach Lufkin and Coach Burns for the other. I will also try to aid if I can. It would be cool to have a season where I can actually get to practices, work/speak with coaches more...it's rare that I'm not needed to coach at some level myself and I'm not complaining. I love soccer and the kids make me feel younger!(until I get home that night and I'm lame the next day!) Coach Lufkin would like Mondays, Coach Willis is leaning towards Fridays. I'll work to see if we can get Coach Lufkin's team to the field for a practice this Monday, but maybe we can do one later practice for this week only and then settle in on Mondays after that. I'll do a draft and split Sunday and get coaches their roster. I'll try to do that as quick as I can to allow coaches to get the information out to you!!...See you all this week...at some point!!!....John

Warren 5/6th Soccer!!! Well it's that time of year again when folks begin to panic some...I get it. So let's run it down so you can all enjoy the rest of your week-end! As this is my 19th season as Recreation Director(not counting the years I coached before that)...You can probably imagine that I have some sort of plan. Your right!😁😁Let's lay it out so we know where we are at and as a father of three, I understand and remember lack of information. 5/6th: This season always starts before anyone is ready....every year...we are just a week out from the last sign-ups. As I always do, I request that if your going to schedule these early games, please have Warren 1 vs Warren 2 for the first "game". Monday will not be a game. It will be a night to get all the kids to the field, split them, get them uniform tops and scrimmage them to see if tweaks or trades need to happen(I'll do a loose draft Sunday) Tuesday both squads can practice. Wednesday there is supposed to be another game for one team, but we will "punt" that game if it becomes an issue and try to make it up. I haven't decided on Warren 1 and Warren 2 yet with the coaches, but coach Autumn Dinsmore will have Warren Black and coach Jeff Beckwith will have Warren Red. So let's make that official, Monday night @ 5:00 for all 5th and 6th graders that signed up(and a handful of 4th). We will go until 6:30 and I would love to have help from folks with jersey distribution! This will be the last year of these two sets. Sunday will be a long day for me, but you never know when your last child is going to get married, so today and tomorrow have / will be busy for another reason! I didn't realize that the schedule had gone out on League Lobster as final, so I'll need to look at it again! THANKS ALL!!! 3/4th is next...

Warren Soccer Season: I have numbers now for squads and now need to get coaches with teams so we can get a schedule going and order uniforms. If you have circled that you would coach, I'm going to text you all shortly. Please consider coaching at one of the four levels with your kiddo. It's a five to six week season and if your going to be there, why not jump in and have fun too! I know it's intimidating, but if your having fun, then the kids are having fun and an hour goes by REAL fast (game and practice). The 3/4th level is a longer practice and an extra game, but your still only talking about a hour an a half and you do travel, but only to Waldoboro. I always need help

REMINDER: All levels of Warren Soccer sign-ups tonight!(Warren Community School) I'll be inside tonight between the gym and cafeteria for my last sign-up and hopefully it isn't raining when we start. I will go the same time period (5:30 to 7:00). I should have a good idea on numbers tonight and how many coaches we would need and teams we will have. I would try to have two or more coaches on each team and if your unsure about coaching, I always try to find other folks to help you and often help myself if we are short. I will generally be at most of the 5/6th practices, so I will always help when I am there. I will also be officiating 3/4th and 5/6th home games, so that comes in to play as well for me and I have been trying to run to get in shape for the season!!!😂😂 I would love volunteers there as well! (although I know that it is intimidating)...I hope to see you tonight!!!...John

REMINDER: Soccer sign-ups for all levels tonight at Warren Community School! They will be 5:30 to 7:00 (Pre-k through 6th grade). The fee for Warren kiddos is $35/ one, $60/ two or more. Out of town adds $10. I'll have my cleat bin and I think I have three sets of shin guards for bigger kids. I'll be in the gazebo at the back of the school. If weather is an issue with tonight or tomorrow night, I will set up in the hall between the gym and cafeteria (my normal hang-out LOL) I hope to see you there!

WARREN RECREATION SOCCER SIGN-UPS: We will do two sign-ups during the first week of school. I know just one evening is tough for some folks, so we will do them back to back. The first will be Wednesday, Sept. 2nd and then again on Thursday, Sept.3rd. Both evenings I will be located in the gazebo at the back of the school from 5:30 to 7:00 to hopefully not mess A.C.E up. There is a fee for all levels and it is $35 for one Warren child, $60 for two or more and you add $10 if your coming in from another town. I will be looking for coaches for all levels and some have already reached out. WE WILL NEED YOU! If the numbers support it, I would be looking at doing Pre-K / K, 1st / 2nd, 3rd / 4th and 5th / 6th squads for levels. I will have my cleat bin, so you can grab some if they fit and you can turn in ones your child has outgrown for another kiddo (free of charge). I'm short on shin-guards now after the first sign-ups, but the Mid-Coast Sports Exchange has a lot of soccer gear if your looking! (Rockland...where Olympia Sports used to be). REMINDER: If you are going into the 6th grade and played Soccer for Warren last year, you would come back to Warren to play this year...I hope to see you there!!!...John Leach...Warren Recreation.
