The Conewango Creek Cleanup is Saturday, Sept. 12. If you are planning to volunteer, please call the office at 814-726-1441. If you will need to use a loaner canoe, we will need that information as well so we can have enough boats for those who want to be on the water. Meet at Point Park on Pool St. at 8 am for registration. We'll shuttle up to the Front St. Boat Launch and get everyone on the water. We also need folks to be part of the land crew, unloading boats as they come in to pick up spots.The event is rain or shine. Bring a refillable water bottle, snacks or lunch for the day and wear closed toed shoes. There will be coffee and snacks during registration.

It's that time of year again! The Conewango Creek River Cleanup will take place Sat., Sept. 12! This year we will focus on the Conewango Creek from the Front St. Boat launch to Point Park in Warren, PA.

If you would like to volunteer, you can be on the water using a loaner canoe courtesy of the Chief Cornplanter Council, BSA or bring your own kayak or canoe. If you prefer to stay on land, we do need land-based volunteers to be part of the traveling road show and unload the boats as they come into the pickup spots along the Conewango Creek and put garbage into the trailer.

We are also in need of someone who has a truck or vehicle with a tow hitch and has some experience hauling trailers, who would be willing to volunteer to haul trailers that day.

We would like to send a big Thank You to Snell Landscaping for donating the dumpster this year!

When rivers are allowed to overflow into their natural floodplains, they absorb and slow floodwaters, reducing destruction downstream.

These dynamic river systems also support incredible biodiversity: creating vital habitat for wildlife while naturally filtering pollutants and keeping our water clean.

By working with nature instead of against it, we can create a future where rivers and people thrive alongside one another. 👍🏻

We are partnering with Penn Soil RC&D on this event this next Monday, Aug. 3 from noon until 4 pm at the Warren Carpool.

Good morning! We have organized an outdoor safety event at the Warren Carpool for Monday, Aug. 3, noon - 4 pm, rain or shine (severe weather date - Fri., Aug 7).

Penn Soil RC&D will present water safety topics and we'll be playing kayak twister!

Conewango Creek Watershed Assoc. will be covering stormwater runoff management, native & invasive species, tick safety and water pollution!

DCNR will talk about wildfire safety AND Smokey Bear will there to greet visitors from 12:30 - 1pm!

And the Cherry Grove Search & Rescue Dog Team will be there with their rescue dogs talking about how they search for missing people, training dogs and hiking safety!!

This view looks very much like the Conewango below Big Joe's in North Warren, Pennsylvania. Those tracks later became what is today the bike/hike trail.

Conewango Township Throwback

This historic photograph is labeled:

"Conewango Twp. D.A.V. Railroad just above double crossing of street railway & D.A.V."

The photograph appears to show the D.A.V. Railroad running alongside Conewango Creek many years ago. While I'm not personally certain of the exact location, we thought our residents would enjoy this glimpse into our area's past.
