White Cane Foundation has teamed up with Global Vision 2020 to provide vision screening to residents of Warren County. Residents are able to get their vision checked and if they need glasses they will be fitted on the spot. There is no financial test. This program is open to everyone. We strongly believe that vision care is health care and everyone should have access to it. People are having to choose right now on rent, utilities and groceries and unfortunately putting off getting their vision checked. Stop by and get yours and your family's vision checked.
If you currently have bi-focals or a known eye condition we can not provide you with glasses. If we can't help with your vision issues, we will refer you to a local optometrist

Today, Erin went to the Young Mothers’ Study Club benefit at Bent Run Brewing Co. Proceeds raised from the event will be used to support local organizations like “Free Books for Kids Town”, “House of Hope”, and “A Safe Place”! Being able to show up in community with organizations like these that truly make a difference in District 65 is one of Erin’s favorite ways to give back.

New in : "Light a Single Candle" by Beverly Butler. Shout-out to Bob at White Cane Coffee Company for the recommendation!

Here is a bit more about this book published by Simon & Schuster: When Cathy lost her sight at the age of 14, she faced a very different way of life, where her other senses had to take over the work of her eyes. Adjusting to blindness was often easier than handling the reactions of people. One friend who now avoided her her. Another smothered her with too much kindness. Then came the thrill of independence after completing a tough training course with Trudy, her wonderful new guide dog. With her new freedom of movement, Cathy accepted the challenge of going back to public high school. "This book was written by an author who is herself blind, the narrative has the ring of authenticity and is moving without being sentimental or romanticized..."
