The Bangladesh Association of Michigan (BAM) strongly condemns the horrific act of violence targeting a mosque in San Diego. An attack on any place of worship is an attack on the values of peace, safety, religious freedom, and coexistence that define our communities.
We are deeply saddened by this incident and stand in solidarity with the affected families, worshippers, and the broader community during this painful time.
At a time when antisemitism, Islamophobia, and hate-driven acts are increasing across our country, we must come together — not divided by faith, ethnicity, or background, but united in our shared humanity. Today it is a mosque. Recently, it was a synagogue. Tomorrow it could be any sacred space where people gather in prayer and peace.
As an organization committed to community, inclusion, and mutual respect, BAM rejects all forms of hatred, violence, and extremism. We call upon leaders, institutions, and communities to stand firmly against rhetoric and actions that fuel fear, division, and intolerance.
We pray for healing, peace, and strength for all affected.
Hate has no home in our communities.
