In 2014, our young Troop was honored to serve as color guard for a local Scouting event where Woody Williams was the keynote (picture in the comments). Our Scouts presented Woody with our Troop neckerchief. Glad our Scouts were able to meet Woody and hear his story.

Several Mathews Scouts recently had the opportunity to attend the West Point Scoutmaster's Council 2022 Camporee, the largest non-BSA camporee in the nation. Having not had the event in two years, this year brought 3,500 Scouts from about 185 troops from around the country.

Our Mathews Scouts had a great experience backpacking their supplies and tents into the Lake Frederick training grounds, and the West Point Cadets put on 15 different event stations for the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Venture Crews in attendance. Highlights included 5 paratroopers from the West Point Black Knights parachuting down above the group, and a great bonfire and outdoor DJ dance party!

Congratulations to our Howland Girl Scout Troop! Several of these Girl Scouts had older brothers in Howland Cub Scout Pack 122, which brought them together to form the awesome Girl Scout Troop 80179 back in 2009!

We also came together for a few combined trips, such as COSI as Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, and tours of the Ohio Capitol Building and Mansfield Reformatory as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

We have been invited to the West Point Military Academy Scout Camporee, April 22-24. It is the largest Scouting camporee in the country with over 6,500 Scouts attending! The Troop was last there in 2016. In this picture, the Army gentleman in the picture (last name Barren) saw our Howland shirts, introduced himself and said he, too, was from Howland!
