I just found this, it is a website created by the PA government and lists resources available to people in Pennsylvania. I was poking around and found listings for cloth diapers, and other baby related items. There are also listings for a wide array of other things like housing, food, utilities, transportation and the list goes on. Simply enter your zipcode and then you will be taken to listings of what is available in your zipcode and each resource listed includes contact info, their service area, website addresses and so on.
In light of the current Federal government shutdown, it is likely that unless there is a miracle, nobody in Pennsylvania will receive snap benefits in November. We don’t have a food pantry at Trinity Memorial Church so I wanted to hunt for resources that might be of help to people in Warren County. I am hoping these resources are helpful and that they help carry us all through this rough time. Through it all, know that you are not alone in the struggles created by disruptions and changes to benefits. I am right there with you. I can’t promise to have answers for every question or request, but as I find potential resources, I will do my best to relay them to you. If you know of a resource that others might benefit from, please don’t hesitate to message Diapers and Such Ministry with as much info as you can about any resources. at minimum, the name of the resource, and what town/city it is located in. Contact info will be really helpful even if it’s only a website address or page, I will do what I can to fill in the gaps. If we work together, we can make it through these uncertain times.
I made a promise to God when I was confirmed as a teen. And among the baptismal vows i made a decision to accept and do my best to follow, in its simplest form, I promised God I would do my best to look have your back and do my best to help those around me whenever I can. Those who have received items from Diapers & Such likely have seen the stained glass in the narthex, they are hard to miss. If you look near the center you will see and I may not get the words precisely right. But it says, you clothed me when I was naked, fed me when I was hungry and visited me when I was imprisoned”. I often end up adding words from the verse it references so it’s accurate, just not precisely worded. It has always been meaningful to me since I first saw it as a tween when the narthex was built in 1981. It is one of the many things in my life that influendpced my decision to start Diapers & Such, and in short I am living out a portion of my faith through Diapers & Such. I can’t stand to see people suffer, and even if I can’t meet a need, I want to do my best to try to find resources that might be able to help with the various needs we all have. Always remember that you are not alone in your struggles, when it comes to snap benefits, I will be losing mine in November just like everyone else if the federal government shutdown continues. So, I really am in this with you And I mean it when I say that if we work together we can make it through this. For now though, this resource from the state of Pennsylvania should help as a starting point.
