United Bikers of Maine is happy to announce that the Governor has vetoed (LD 1228)
"An act to clarify certain terms clarify terms in and to make other changes to the automotive right to repair laws" this Bill would put into Law a set of unanimous recommendations from the automotive right to repair working group to clarify and improve the effectiveness after it was approved by Maine voters as a ballot initiative in 2023.
Essentially what this Bill would do is protect your right to have your Motorcycle or automobile repaired at a shop of your choosing and not be blocked by the dealerships (proprietary diagnostic computer system) this bill would make it a level playing field for your local Garage (business) to work on your vehicle.
United Bikers of Maine is not advocating you not taking your Bike or Automobile to a certified dealership for repairs, but we will always stand on your right to choose.
