SafeCare: A Program of NorthCare

SafeCare: A Program of NorthCare SafeCare is a free, evidence-based, in-home parenting program designed to support families with young children (ages 0-5).

We provide parents with tools and strategies to promote child safety, health, and development. SafeCare services are provided to caregivers who have at least one child under the age of 6 and who live in either Oklahoma, Cleveland, Canadian, Comanche, Carter, McClain, Kay, or Garfield County.

Back to school comes with change, and that can often mean big feelings.

You don’t have to navigate those changes alone. Our Meridian location offers walk-in access to services for children, teens and families, including individual and group therapy, family-focused skill building (in-home and onsite), foster care stabilization, school-based support and so much more.

With walk-in appointments available Monday, Wednesday and Thursday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., getting started is as simple as stopping by.

Need someone to talk to right away? Call (405) 858-2700, option 1 or connect with 988 for immediate support 24/7, 365.

When kids are safe and healthy, families thrive. Our SafeCare crew brought that message front and center at Bethany Children’s Health Center’s 2026 Healthy Schools Oklahoma Summer Health Institute on Tuesday, connecting with coordinators from across the state and reinforcing the importance of strong, supported families.

Our work with Variety Care makes a difference every day. Together, we champion whole person health and strengthen the systems that help Oklahoma children grow up safe, healthy and ready to thrive.

πŸ“šβœ¨ Back-to-school season is here! βœ¨πŸ“š

A new school year brings exciting opportunities, new friendships, and fresh beginnings, but it can also bring stress and big emotions for both children and parents.

πŸ’™ At SafeCare, we're here to support families every step of the way. Whether you're establishing new routines, navigating challenging behaviors, or simply looking for extra support, you don't have to do it alone.

Our FREE, voluntary, evidence-based home visiting program helps families with children from birth through age 5 build confidence through:
🏑 Home Safety
❀️ Parent-Child Interaction
🍎 Child Health

Together, we can help children get the best possible start. At home and beyond.

If you know a family who could benefit from SafeCare, we'd love to connect!

One team, one mission: meeting the needs of Oklahoma’s families and children. Earlier this week, Family Preservation Services staff from across the state met to make connections, receive training and identify ways to better support the families we serve. We’re grateful for opportunities to pause, celebrate our wins and look ahead with purpose.

Thanks and gratitude to our friends at Crossings Community Church for the warm welcome. We appreciate your partnership and your hospitality!

Summer break can be full of fun, adventure, and memory-making, but it can also bring challenges when routines disappear, and children suddenly have a lot more free time at home.

One strategy we discuss in SafeCare's Parent-Child Interaction (PCI) module is the importance of setting clear expectations before activities begin. Whether you're heading to the pool, playing outside, tackling a craft project, or simply spending the day at home, children thrive when they know what's expected of them.

πŸ’š Set expectations before the activity starts.
πŸ’™ Redirect negative behavior toward the behavior you'd like to see.
πŸ’š Follow through consistently.

Simple, clear directions and consistent follow-through help children feel safe, successful, and confident.

Most importantly, don't forget to enjoy the little moments. Summer doesn't have to be packed with expensive activities to be meaningful. Reading together, riding bikes, building forts, making sidewalk chalk masterpieces, or sharing popsicles in the backyard can create memories that last a lifetime.
