Help us celebrate Warner's 250th Anniversary. The museum will be free of charge on June 13th. Welcome

Here's another chance to celebrate Warner's 250th birthday! The dedication of a donated Serviceberry Tree at the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum will take place this Saturday, June 13th at 10AM. Did you know that Serviceberry or Shadbush (genus Amelanchier) got its common name because it is one of the earliest shrubs or trees to bloom? Native people used parts of the serviceberry plants for food, medicine, and tools. They also knew that the blooms often coincided with the annual running of shad. American colonial tradition also held that the blooms signified that the ground had thawed and funeral services and burials could occur. Come celebrate the natural and social history of Warner!

Learning happens everywhere at MKIM.

For many children, a visit to Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum is their first opportunity to engage with Native history and culture through hands-on experiences, exhibits, stories, and outdoor learning. Educational programs help spark curiosity, challenge stereotypes, and build deeper understanding.

Your NH Gives donation helps ensure these experiences continue for future generations. Together, we can make learning more accessible and impactful for everyone who visits.

Mt Kearsarge Indian Museum will host an evening reception in celebration of Adornment that Adapts, a new seasonal exhibition highlighting both traditional and contemporary Native American quillwork and beadwork. This will take place following the museum’s powwow community feast on Saturday, July 11, at 6:30 PM. This event is free.

This intimate event will honor the participating artists from within the museum community, whose works will be on display throughout the exhibition. Invited artists, museum members, community partners, and supporters will have the opportunity to engage directly with the makers, fostering a deeper understanding of quillwork and beadwork as living art forms that carry cultural knowledge, identity, and innovation. Artists on display include:

Rhonda Besaw
Monica Alexander
Jill Cresey-Gross
Kristen Oser-Allen
Ray Southworth
Kimberly-Ann Lussier

The evening will include light refreshments and brief welcoming remarks from artists and museum leadership. All bead and quill workers are strongly encouraged to bring examples of their work to display during the evening. Limited table space will be provided.
