This was an exciting day in the forest! We began the event with a game of rock paper scissors to break the ice with each other then gathered and were taught about the type of trees Native to Los Coyotes and California. After we were introduced to the saw mill and were all surprised to see how transportable the giant saw mill was. The saw mill was confusing to understand and scary to operate at first but we learned quickly, we then cut the log into individual pieces and began construction of the garden boxes. All and all it was a fun day and we learned many new things. Definitely one of the highlights was learning about sustainable forestry and how to utilize the natural resources in our territories for ourselves and communities.

This past weekend our team had some hands on training in preparation for our 5th Annual GONA . Our facilitators Anthony and Meagan from Tribal Technical Assistance did a great job at offering us tools, stories, and experience to prepare us.
It was powerful to create space to be in community and learn from one another. Thank you to everyone who attended the training . Thank you for being generous with the time you pour into your communities. We see you and appreciate you ! You are worthy !

Miiyuyam, Howka, Miyaxwe, Miyaxwen, Hola, Hello Everyone!

Our team is excited to collaborate with Planned Parenthood and the NCLGBTQ Center to provide the “Reproductive Justice and Healthy Relationships Workshop Series”. We would love to have you join us!

In Reproductive Justice 101 P1 & P2 we will be learning the history and framework of reproductive justice and how it can support access to reproductive healthcare, bodily autonomy and addressing systemic issues in our community. At these workshops we will have a space to explore and question the systems and institutions that have enforced hurtful approaches, such as: forced sterilization, the separation of Native kids from their families, and the erasure of traditional midwives practices.

In Healthy relationships and Consent 101 we will be learning how to communicate effectively, recognize healthy relationships, and understand the importance of boundaries and consent.

The workshop series is designed for youth ages 12-26. Parents and families are always welcome to join us. We will provide dinner and raffle prizes. Rides are available upon request.
