💙 Self-care is not selfish—it’s essential.

The work we do at CASA of Houston County is deeply meaningful, but it can also be emotionally demanding. Our staff support volunteers, advocate for children, collaborate with community partners, plan programs, and work to ensure every child in foster care has a voice.

To continue serving others well, we must also take time to care for ourselves.

Self-care strengthens our resilience, prevents burnout, and allows us to re-center.

As we reflect on another year of changing children's stories, providing outreach, and creating partnerships, we are grateful for a team that leads with compassion, dedication, and heart. Taking care of ourselves allows us to continue caring for others and advancing our mission.

Yesterday, our ED and AC had an offsite staff meeting, “Celebrating Impact, Reflecting on Growth, and Planning for the Future. Afterward, Velicia and Hannah took some time to decompress in the Salt Room at Synergy Wellness & Bodycare. Thank you to our incredible duo for all you do each day. Your work matters, and so does your well-being. ❤️💙

Strong nonprofit boards don't happen by accident—they are built through intentional onboarding.

When new board members understand an organization's mission, impact, finances, and sustainability goals, they are empowered to become effective leaders, advocates, and ambassadors from the very beginning.

At CASA of Houston County, we believe that an informed and engaged board helps ensure that our mission remains strong, sustainable, and focused on making a difference in the lives of children.

Leadership begins with learning, and great boards start with great onboarding. Thank you Courtyard by Marriott (WR) for hosting our meeting.

Please join us in congratulating our interns, Ja’Maya Reed and Lanaia Day! 🎓✨

During their time with CASA, they completed in-service training, assisted with outreach initiatives, attended court proceedings, and learned firsthand about the vital role CASA volunteers play in advocating for children. They also attended CASA Day at the Capitol, where they met and heard from local legislators.

Both young ladies graduated this spring from Fort Valley State University, and we are so proud of all they have accomplished. We know their futures are bright and wish them continued success! 💙
