Thirty pieces of silver, thrown back on the temple floor. Too late to undo it.

Then he looks up at the cross and sees whose place that was. The nails, the thorns, the weight of it: none of it belonged to the One hanging there.

More than a million men are locked up in America. Behind every one of them, someone is still waiting.

We made a two-minute film about what happens next. It's called "A Million Reasons Why."

Watch it. Then send it to someone who has ever prayed for a man behind a fence.

"Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28 (NLT)

Come as you are. That includes tired.

Share this with someone inside, or with a family that is waiting.

Nothing you have done can put you beyond His love.

"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love." Romans 8:38 (NLT)

Not the worst thing you ever did. Not the years, the record or the wall. A man can be cut off from almost everything, but not from this.

If someone you love is inside, share this with them, or share it for them.

Sam Merkle calls this room his "secret place," his "upper room."

Before daybreak the cup goes in the trash and he climbs the stairs in the dark. One light switch. An open Bible, a table of prayer cards, and a floor. Every card is someone we are praying for.

"But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private." Matthew 6:6 (NLT)

"Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere." Ephesians 6:18 (NLT)

This is where Live at Five starts, every morning at 5 a.m. Eastern. Meet us on your knees at five, wherever you are.

Love God. Love people. Love never fails.

That is the whole of it, and it is what we take through the gate every week.

Remember the men inside in your prayers today, and share this with someone who prays for a man behind a fence.

His mercy is new this morning. So are you.

"Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning." Lamentations 3:23 (NLT)

Yesterday does not get the last word. Wherever you woke up today, in a cell, at a kitchen table, or in a house that feels too quiet, His mercy got there first.

Send this to someone who needs a fresh start this morning.

Meet us on your knees at five.

Our prayer team prays every morning at 5 a.m. Eastern for the men inside. We call it Live at Five, and there is room beside us wherever you are: a living room, a truck cab, a bunk.

There is no number to call and nothing to sign. You need an alarm clock.

You are not forgotten. Your name is written on His hands.

"See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands." Isaiah 49:16 (NLT)

Behind every prison wall is a man the world has stopped thinking about. But God hasn't. And behind every one of those men is a family that still waits, still prays, still hopes.

If someone you love is inside, share this with them, or share it for them. Let them know they are remembered.

The cup was offered to him too.

He walked out the door instead. Thirty pieces of silver. Torches in the garden. And a kiss on the cheek of the Lamb of God.

How far would you have gone before you turned around?
