ATTENTION!!!!!!
I am preparing to present at a conference next month, and my topic is The Church: A Faith-Based Approach to Eradicating the Stigma of Mental Illness in Underserved Communities. I am gathering information on the interactions between people struggling with mental illness, Christian leaders’ perceptions, stigmatization, and The Church’s role.
If you are a Christian leader (clergy, counselor, pastor, minister, director, etc.) or have sought help or counsel from The Church regarding mental illness or mental wellness, please go to the [https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9P6BJB2] and complete a brief, anonymous 5-minute survey.
Your feedback and involvement are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Respect Your Mental Health; Your Mental Health Matters!

According to the Mayo Clinic, many people have mental health concerns from time to time. But a mental health concern becomes a mental illness when ongoing signs and symptoms cause frequent stress and affect our ability to function.
A mental illness can make us miserable and cause problems in our daily lives, such as at school, at work, or in relationships. Mental illness signs and symptoms can vary depending on the disorder, circumstances, and other factors. Mental illness symptoms can affect emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. In most cases, symptoms can be managed with a combination of medications and talk therapy (psychotherapy).
Mental Health Matters! We know how we are feeling better than anyone else. Therefore, we know when something is not quite right with us. If this applies to any of us, let's open the attachment and complete a mental health screener. There are several to choose from, so consider taking as many as you like. Results are confidential.

Greetings:
Every person needs a "no matter what" friend. Someone they can call no matter what. Someone they can vent to no matter what. Someone they don't have to explain themselves to no matter what. Our support group is like that. We accept you no matter what. So join us via Zoom on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 6:30 PM.
Note: Confidentiality and creating a safe space are critical to the success of our meetings. Therefore, I will send you the Zoom invitation a day before the meeting if you are interested. If you have questions, I can be reached at [email protected].

In search of practical, evidence-based solutions to combat the problems that agonize Kevin Johnson's community, on January 9, 2019, his humaneness, love, empathy, and passion for serving humanity birthed YouBeThe1.Org, Inc. YouBeThe1 is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization steadfast in eradicating the stigma of mental illness, conveying awareness about bullying and its psychological effects, and augmenting intervention efforts for su***de prevention.
While conducting a community analysis project, Kevin's investigation revealed that the Central Georgia community was ranked highly in the nation for su***des. At one point, Houston County, Georgia, not only led the state of Georgia but led the nation in deaths per 100,000 people. Su***de is preventable, and 90% of people who died by su***de had an underlying, treatable mental illness.
Kevin challenged himself to make the world better than it was before he arrived on earth. He believed this could be accomplished by believing in people, loving them unconditionally, and adding value to the lives of the people he meets.
His mission in life is to educate, inspire, and motivate people to become empowered to maximize their full potential. Kevin loves to see people succeed, and he demonstrates warmth, empathy, genuineness, love, and concern for others.
DBSA Central Georgia’s mission is to empower individuals to maximize their full potential, achieve and sustain wellness, become powerful, resilient, and not held prisoner by a diagnosis or their past. Our goal is to empower, provide hope, strength, courage, and build resiliency through the gathering of people who are surviving and thriving in life. Depression, bipolar, or mood disorders do not define us. People must know that it is perfectly okay not to be okay, and DBSA Central Georgia will help every step of the way. We've been there. We can help!
