We are thrilled to share that the Georgia Kinship Project had a presence at the 2026 Adoptive and Foster Parent Conference of Georgia conference! ✨ Our very own Deja Williams led an insightful workshop on kinship navigator programs and their vital role in supporting and sustaining kinship placements. 🏠👵🏾🧓

During the conference session, the Families First Prevention Services Act was discussed and addressed the importance of prioritizing relatives when young relatives are involved in the child welfare system. 📝 This shift is crucial as states work to reduce the use of congregate care settings, 🛌 creating an urgent need for safe and loving placements for children in foster care. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒

Kinship navigator programs are assets to the child welfare system, providing families with essential support, practical resources, training, and mental health services. ♥️ Together, we can strengthen kinship placements and ensure that children thrive in nurturing environments. 🥰🫂
