Craven Hall Historical Society

House & steamboat museum tours the second Sunday of the month from 12-3PM as well as by appointment.

Craven Hall is a historical home located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The site was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The home was so named, in the 20th century, when the building was used as a school. The oldest section of the home was built in the late 18th century. The property was purchased from Giles Craven by Harmon Vansant, in 1798. The Vansant family then made i

t their home from 1799 to 1871. The Craven Hall Historical Society owns and operates Craven Hall, the John Fitch Steamboat Museum which is on the Craven Hall grounds, and the Craven/Vansant burial ground for use by the community. The Historical Society is a non-profit organization that is registered in the state of Pennsylvania.

Our next open house is on Sunday, June 14! Plan a visit to Craven Hall to learn all about our local history. Please note that open-hearth cooking demonstrations depend on weather conditions throughout the summer (we won’t light a fire if it’s too hot outside!).

We have a new Craven Hall volunteer. Meet Robin! She is on the far right and helped us prepare for the Craven Hall Mother’s Day open house, planting fresh marigolds (donated by Jen – our Past President). There are exciting plans for the Gazebo on Mother’s Day! We hope you can make it! We open at Noon and go to 3:00PM.

As always, admission is free (though donations are greatly appreciated!).

Happy World Book Day! 📕 We have quite the collection of old books dating back more than one hundred years in our library (and if you count our cyphering book, it’s even older than our country!). View some of these books on display during your visit! Our next open house is on Sunday, May 10.

We’re excited to share that we’re working on a new exhibit featuring Revolutionary War-era tombstones and tombstone fragments in honor of America’s 250th birthday. We hope to have the exhibit open in time for the June open house. Stay tuned for updates!
