Wisdom, the incredible 74-year-old Laysan albatross from Midway Atoll, continues to amaze the world by still laying eggs! Observing Wisdom during my time on Midway Atoll remains one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. This visit was inspired by meeting Chandler Robbins, the ornithologist who banded Wisdom as a fledgling 74 years ago.

Midway Atoll, located at the northern tip of the Hawaiian Archipelago, left a lasting impression not only because of Wisdom but also due to the heartbreaking sight of plastic debris brought ashore by the Japanese Current. I'm repeating myself but there is really no other way to describe the tragic loss of Bob Rozinski, a beloved friend and Cloud Ridge team member over many decades, than with these words:

"There will never ever be another Bob—his superb photographic “eye," his expertise with imagining the photo he wanted and getting it (spot-on!), his remarkable personal and professional integrity, his generous mentoring of both friends and students, his humbleness to a fault, his unique sense of humor, and—most of all—the love for the natural world that he shared with a much broader world than he ever realized—will be profoundly and sorely missed. I also want to say that the extraordinary team of Bob & Wendy--a loving combination of creative and technical genius--has given North America a lasting legacy of conservation advocacy without equal. Bob will be smiling as Wendy continues their shared work on behalf of all of us!"

Tribute to Bob Rozinski

Dear Friends of Bob and mine,
Bob Rozinski, my partner in life and photography passed away in his sleep yesterday from a recently diagnosed cancer.
As our cherished friend Audrey Benedict wrote, "There will never ever be another Bob -- his photographic eye and expertise, his remarkable integrity, his generous mentoring of friends and students, his unique sense of humor, and -- most of all -- the love for the natural world that he shared with a much broader world than he ever realized."
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cloud Ridge Naturalists, 8297 Overland Road, Ward, CO 80481 or the charity of your choice.
