Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts of Dutchess County - CARE of DC CARE of DC is a "No Kill" organization. We take in animals that are "at risk" and try to find forever homes for them.

CARE of DC is a "No Kill", non profit organization. Our goal is to save as many animals from euthanasia as possible. We take our animals from high kill shelters and work to rehabilitate them and find forever homes. Our organization works closely with other rescues and shelters that share in our values. We have developed a strong network of "no kill" partners and we assist them on a regular basis.

We take in corporate donations, warehouse them and then work to distribute the donated food and supplies to our partners in need.

Due to the AMAZING turnout for our Saturday Sleepover, Sunday Social will be canceled tomorrow! 🐾❤️

We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who opened their homes and gave our dogs a fun sleepover. Because of all of you, so many of our pups are getting a much-needed break from the shelter and some extra love this weekend! 🥰

Meet Butterscotch! 🍯

This sweet boy is almost 3 months old and is looking for a family of his own. He is a mixed breed puppy who will likely grow to be medium sized. Butterscotch is everything you’d want in a puppy friendly, playful, and always happy to make new friends.

He is already neutered, up to date on his age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, and has received his flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. All he needs now is a home to call his own.

Do you love dogs and enjoy working in a fun, fast-paced environment? We'd love to meet you!

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking team member to join our boarding, daycare, and grooming facility.
The ideal candidate will:

❤️ Love dogs and be comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and breeds.
🐕 Have experience working with dogs.
😊 Be friendly, dependable, and have a positive attitude.
💻 Possess basic computer skills.
🤝 Work well with both customers and fellow team members.
🧹 Be willing to help with cleaning and general daily care of the animals.

This is a rewarding position for someone who is passionate about animals and wants to make a difference in their daily lives.

Meet the newest pups in town! 🐾

Phoenix, Pippen, Prince, Puck, Pixel, and Pesto are officially looking for their forever homes! At just 2 months old, these adorable puppies are full of curiosity, love, and all the fun that comes with puppyhood.

We’re not sure what breed they are, but we expect they’ll grow into medium-sized dogs. They’re all very sweet and ready to find families of their own.

Give a rescue dog the best Saturday night ever!

We’re looking for caring families to take one of our rescue dogs or puppies home for a Saturday Sleepover! One night outside the kennel can help a dog relax, decompress, and even boost their chances of finding a forever home.

🐶 How it works:
• Pick up: Saturday at 4:00 PM
• Drop off: Sunday between 5:00–6:00 PM
• Location: 60 Smith Crossing Rd., Wappingers Falls

Please bring a copy of your driver’s license and a 5 lb bag of puppy or adult dog food (any brand is fine) when you pick up your foster dog.

📝 To participate, complete the Google Form linked below. Once you submit the form, you’re officially signed up for the sleepover! Dogs and puppies will be matched on a first come, first serve basis, so be sure to sign up and arrive early.

Join us today from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM at 60 Smith Crossing Road, Wappingers Falls to meet our wonderful adoptable dogs. Whether you’re looking for a playful companion, a walking buddy, or a loyal best friend, we’d love to help you find the perfect match.

They’re finally ready! Meet Phosphorus, Bromine, Lead, and Sulfer! 🐾

These four pups just became available for adoption after spending the last several weeks growing up in a foster home, where they’ve been absolutely spoiled rotten. They’ve gotten used to being part of a family and are ready to find one of their own.

We believe they’re German Shepherd mixes. They’re super friendly, playful, love meeting new people, get along great with other dogs, and already know how to use a doggie door!

🩵 Phosphorus is the only boy.
🩷 Bromine, Lead, and Sulfer are all girls.

If you’re looking for a fun, social puppy to add to your family, one of these four might be the perfect fit.
