Join us on June 29th at 9:15 PM for a race like no other as we shut down the Neil Armstrong Airport just for
you! Get your running shoes on and fly along the taxiway and run on the airstrip with the lit-up runway lights at night! Enjoy this unique view of the airport from the runway! Join family, friends, and fellow aviation-enthusiasts as you run at KXAV on the flattest course in the region! Fireworks start at 10:00pm so runners/walkers can enjoy them during/after the race! The Fireworks are sponsored by the New Knoxville Independence Day Celebration June 28th-29th. We will also be bringing back the food trucks after your finish. Wapakoneta/New Knoxville is where Neil Armstrong learned how to fly over these fields in his teenage years. He received his pilot's license when he was only 16 years old. The Neil Armstrong Airport aims to celebrate the past, present and future of aviation. This race supports the Neil Armstrong Airport. July 4th - Celebrate the National holiday with us! Formerly known as the Firecracker 5K, Rocket to the Moon offers a similar experience and much more! Start/finish at the Auglaize Co. The race takes participants through historic Wapakoneta, past beautiful century homes and scenic paths next to the Auglaize river. Stay for the time honored St. Joseph Festival and Fireworks later in the evening. This event is hosted by the Wapakoneta YMCA. Proceeds are dedicated to this organization. July 20th - This race offers 5k/10k race distances, and a 1 Mile Bling run. Event start/finish is at the Armstrong Air & Space Museum. Runner and walkers in the 5K /10K, 1 mile Bling Run, and the Virtual Run will receive the custom Shirt/Medal.
2024 is the 55th Anniversary of the Moon Landing. To celebrate we will have an Astronaut on hand to cheer you on! The Astronaut(s) will be available for Meet & Greets. Autograph Sessions and speaking engagements will be offered at the museum. Check the Museum schedule for times. This event starts and finishes at the Armstrong Air and Space Museum in Wapakoneta OH, the Birthplace of Neil Armstrong. The race is a run/walk and has many unique features including Space Themed Music, Space Facts along the courses, Moon Pies, and Star Wars characters.
