Pixie was showing off her raspberry breaths this morning 🍓💨 Sound up at the beginning of the video!
One of the grounding tools we teach our veterans when they’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, tense, or overstimulated is “raspberry breaths.”
Here’s how:
Take a slow deep breath in through your nose…
Gently lick your lips, press them together loosely, and as you exhale, let your lips flutter to make that “brrrrr” sound, just like Pixie.
Why does it help?
Raspberry breaths naturally release tension in your jaw, lips, cheeks, and facial muscles while slowing your exhale, sending a signal to your nervous system that it’s safe to relax. Sometimes something this simple can help bring you back to the present.
So if today feels heavy… pause for a moment, take your raspberry breaths, and let Pixie remind you to soften. 💙🐴
