The Artist's Cottage Situated near the summit of Houck mountain, the Artist's Cottage sits on 74 acres of serene forests

Situated near the summit of Houck Mountain in the Catskill regions of upstate New York, the Artist Cottage sits on 90 acres of serene forests and natural springs, and it's one of the original farm houses on the mountain, with its stone foundations dating back to around 1780. It was owned by many generations of the Kilmer family, until the death of Bart Kilmer in 2006, when the house was abandoned

, vandalized and left to the harshness of the mountain weather. In 2014, we acquired the land adjacent to our property, and the old, dilapidated house was part of the deal. Our original intention was to tear it down, bur after realizing its age and history, we decided to restore it. It took 6 years and 3 contractors to bring the house back to life.
