HARVEST BREAKFAST TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE!

Join us for this time-honored tradition on Sunday, October 18 at Embassy Suites, 550 Winter Street, Waltham. Arrive any time between 8:00am and Noon and enjoy an autumn-inspired buffet breakfast, take a bid on some fabulous auction items (auctions close at 11:40am), and purchase some lovely crafts made by OFI participants. Plus, there's fun for the whole family!

We're remembering a good friend to OFI who we, and the rest of the world, lost last week - the incomparable Yolanda.

Thank you, Yolanda, for all that you did for Opportunities for Inclusion, A Special Day in Waltham, and the many other worthy organizations who benefited from your generous spirit! You have inspired us all and will be greatly missed.

The 3rd annual A SPECIAL DAY IN WALTHAM event was held on Saturday, July 11, and a great time was had by all! Special athletes came out to participate and have fun in 9 sports events and all received a medal. Jim Connors, former OFI participant, was a special guest and was recognized for his efforts on the Cambridge Warriors Basketball Team, which finished 4th in the USA Special Olympics. We couldn't have done this event without all of the amazing volunteers! This event was a joint effort of the Waltham Police Department, Waltham Fire Department, Waltham Recreation, Opportunities for Inclusion and the Waltham Disability Services Commission.

OFI participants and staff enjoyed a fun summer BBQ last Thursday afternoon, topped off with delicious ice cream from Pizzi Farm! Rick Pizzi and Cathyann Harris Ward 8 City Council generously provided ice cream for all to enjoy. Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy and a few others stopped by to join the fun!

A Special Day in Waltham scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, May 30 has been CANCELLED due to the weather forecast (heavy rain and wind gusts).

While this decision is disappointing, we believe it is in the best interest of the safety and well-being of all athletes.

The Special Day Committee is looking into the possibility of rescheduling the event for a future date and we will keep everyone updated.

Congratulations to Jim Connors, former participant in Opportunities for Inclusion's CBDS Medfield program and a member of the Cambridge Warriors Special Olympics Massachusetts basketball team! The Cambridge Warriors, with an amazing 99-0-1 record, will be representing Massachusetts in the National Special Olympics in Minnesota in June. Justin Barrett, co-chair of the A Special Day in Waltham committee, recently presented a check to Jim and David Tynes, coach of the Cambridge Warriors, to assist with the team's fundraising efforts.
