Multiple residential buildings and critical infrastructure objects were struck in Poltava.

Russia says it only targets military facilities. But that is a blatant lie. Instead, apartment buildings and single-family homes are barraged daily. Our elders live in fear. Several said that their hope is that if their home is hit, they perish quickly.

This should never be the norm, and yet it is. You help them weather these vicious attacks. You bring them light, comfort, stability, and HOPE. Your local generosity has a tremendous global impact.

There is still time to make a gift this fiscal year! You can donate via our website or mail us a check. We thank you for standing with Ukraine’s most vulnerable.

Today, for the second time this week, residential buildings in Dnipro were attacked. As it stands, destruction is the only certainty for our elders.

But you can bring a different kind of certainty into their lives. The certainty of a hot meal, uninterrupted power, safety, and agency.

Our on-the-ground coordinators and volunteers are doing everything humanely possible to bring warmth, comfort, and dignity to our elders.

Your generosity keeps our support system running. Days like this one are a reminder of how grateful we are for each and every one of you.

Dear Friends,

Action for Post-Soviet Jewry joins so many in mourning the passing of Congressman Barney Frank — a dedicated public servant, courageous advocate, and longtime friend of Action for Soviet Jewry.

For decades, Congressman Frank stood with the Soviet Jewry movement and lent his voice and leadership to the fight for freedom, human rights, and the right of Soviet Jews to live openly and immigrate freely.

These photos capture more than moments in time. They reflect a relationship built on shared purpose and enduring commitment. One image bears his handwritten note: “To my friends at Action for Soviet Jewry” — words that remind us of the many partnerships and people who helped shape this movement and its legacy.

As Action marks more than 50 years of service, we remember with gratitude those who stood beside us in pivotal moments of history. Congressman Frank was one of them.

May his memory be a blessing.

Yesterday Dnipro was viciously attacked again, with apartment buildings and civilian infrastructure taking significant damage.

Not every attack makes the news. Russia’s brutality is not episodic but constant. The truth is, our elders, coordinators, and volunteers are in constant danger. Not just in Dnipro, but in every community we serve.

Despite it all, our elders endure, and our coordinators continue delivering critical aid.

Your generosity makes it possible. Without you, our elders wouldn’t have hope. You bring light into their lives during these truly horrific times.

There’s still time to make your gift in this fiscal year!

Microgrants are a crucial cornerstone of our holistic support model.

Microgrants are consistent, substantial, and completely unrestricted. They bring dignity and agency into the lives of our elders. They are something our elders can always count on.

Thank YOU for making it possible. As we’re rounding up the fiscal year, a gift today will translate into tangible monetary assistance.

Thank you for your generosity!

Our elders have endured the unimaginable — the Holocaust, the horrors of World War II, and decades of Soviet repression and abuse.

Now they have to endure again. Your ongoing support brings them light, comfort, and hope. Despite it all, their spirit persists. Our job is to make sure our elders don’t just survive but thrive. YOUR ongoing generosity makes it possible.

Today, we hold a special place in our hearts for the Bubbes of Ukraine.

Many of the elderly women we support have lived through more history and hardship than most of us can imagine. And yet, even amid air raid sirens, blackouts, uncertainty, and fear, they continue to inspire us with their dignity, gratitude, humor, and perseverance.

They remind us that resilience is not loud.
Sometimes resilience looks like lighting Shabbat candles during a blackout or checking on a neighbor after a sleepless night. Sometimes it looks like finding joy in a phone call, a care package, a warm meal, or knowing someone across the world remembers them.

At Action for Post-Soviet Jewry, we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to stand beside these remarkable women—not only in moments of crisis, but in moments of connection, compassion, and hope.

This Mother’s Day, may we all take time to honor the women who nurtured us, guided us, sacrificed for us, and carried stories forward so future generations could continue to shine.

To all the mothers, grandmothers, Bubbes, daughters, and caregivers in our community:
Thank you.
We honor you today and every day.

Your gift today can make an immediate, tangible difference:
$50 provides emergency food and basic essentials
$350 ensures access to critical medications
$1000 delivers one month of guaranteed cash assistance to an entire community of elders—giving someone like Tatinan the dignity of choice in impossible circumstances
Or give at a level that is meaningful to you.
Every gift at every level has an impact.

In our work, we always strive to highlight what the headlines often miss — the impact the war has on the Jewish elders we serve. We can say, without exaggeration, that they are amongst some of the most vulnerable individuals in Ukraine. Their spirit and YOUR generosity allow them to not only survive but find a glimmer of hope during these dark times.

Yosef Zissels, the honored speaker at our Annual Impact meeting gave us a full picture of what it’s like to survive in a war zone.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing snippets of that conversation. Stay tuned!

These horrific attacks are the reality for our elders, coordinators, and volunteers. But your ongoing support lets us respond quickly and effectively. Without exaggeration, you save lives, and we thank you for that.
