This weekend, Russia once again struck Kyiv. This time, secondary explosions tore through a nursing home.

Almost 40 dead. Almost all of them elders. This tragedy once again highlights the vulnerability of the elderly Ukrainians trapped in this war, surviving the unimaginable for almost five years.

If there is anything we can trust Russia on, it’s the escalation threats.

Yesterday, Russia, once again, threatened to escalate. But this time is different. Putin explicitly threatened to unleash ballistic missiles on critical and civilian infrastructure. This time, he did not repeat his usual lies. He proclaimed Russia’s cruelty and barbarity openly.

To anyone on the ground, this isn’t news. At Action, we are in constant preparedness mode. We are always expecting another escalation.

To do so, we need a cash reserve. That’s where you come in. With your help, we can get ahead of the crisis and meet our elders’ needs before they even emerge.

You can donate via our website, make us a check, or have it processed through your donor-advised fund.

Thank you and Slava Ukraini!

Today, Russia attacked the largest mall in Kryvyi Rih, twice in one day.

Our coordinators and volunteers are working tirelessly to make sure every elder in our care is safe.
Kryvyi Rih is no stranger to Russia’s cruelty. This community has seen some of the most barbaric attacks of the entire war.
This is the reality our elders and on-the-ground staff face every day.

Looking ahead, with Action.

A message from Debbie:

For most of the past five years, I have come to you when something happened and asked you to help us respond.
This time, I am coming to you before it happens.

Once again, Russia attacked Kryvyi Rih, one of our communities.

Kryvyi Rih has been hit particularly hard. It’s a frequent target. Our clients have learnt to go about their lives the best they can despite the constant danger.

With your support, we can ease their burden.
Thank you for standing with Kryvyi Rih and all vulnerable elderly Jews across Ukraine!

This Wednesday night, Jewish communities across the world will mark the beginning of Tisha B’Av, the saddest day in the Jewish calendar.

As we mourn the destruction of the First and Second Temples and other tragedies and disasters our people have endured throughout history.

As we speak, Jewish communities across Ukraine are under attack. Civilian infrastructure is being destroyed, cities, towns, and villages are being devastated, yet our elders endure.

For over four years, we’ve mourned with them. We’ve mourned for the peaceful skies and for the community.

But Tisha B’Av is also a reminder of the resilience of the Jewish people. Our morning is an opportunity to reflect and learn from the lessons of the past.

We at Action-PSJ wish you a peaceful and meaningful Tisha B’Av.
