Every artist has a story, and Sharon James' is one about following curiosity.

What started with metalworking eventually led her to a beadmaking class in North Carolina. That one experience changed everything, inspiring her to trade in her tools, pick up a torch, and begin creating glass jewelry.

There isn't really one "perfect view" at the South Carolina Artisans Center.

It's the feeling of wandering from room to room, taking in different styles, meeting new artists, and finding that one piece you can't stop thinking about.

If it's been a while since your last visit, come see what's new.

There's a lot more to a sweetgrass basket than what you see on the surface.

Each one is woven by hand using techniques that have been passed down through generations, making every basket a piece of South Carolina's living history.

When you visit, you'll find handcrafted sweetgrass baskets that celebrate both the artistry and the tradition behind this historic Lowcountry craft.

A visit to the South Carolina Artisans Center doesn't end when you step outside.

Take a stroll through the garden and you'll find handcrafted art tucked among the flowers, raised beds, and walking paths. It's a peaceful spot to slow down, look around, and enjoy another side of the Center.

One piece of art can tell a hundred different stories.

Alvin Glen shared that the moments that stay with him most are when he watches visitors spend time with a piece, connect with it emotionally, and share what they see.

Those conversations are a reminder that art isn't just about the artist's perspective. It's also about the people who experience it.
