And the smiles were abundant this weekend and throughout the past few months! Cast, crew, and parents of the Wonka family made a huge mark on Colleton and our community is the better for it!!!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you.

I had this exact edition of Alice in Wonderland as a kid, or one close enough to it. Yellowed pages, that weird illustration of the Cheshire Cat that used to genuinely freak me out a little. I read it so many times the spine gave up before I did.

And back then I didn't care about the meaning of anything. I just liked that a girl fell down a hole and nothing made sense after that and somehow it was fine. A caterpillar smoking a pipe. A rabbit who was always late. A queen who wanted everyone's head cut off over croquet. I didn't need it to mean anything. It was just fun to be inside.

Seeing this quote now, though, I don't think I ever actually clocked this line as a kid. Or if I did, it didn't land the way it lands now. Because I get it differently at this age. Wonderland wasn't really about the White Rabbit or the tea party. It was about who Alice ran into down there. The ones who made an insane, upside-down place feel less lonely.

I don't know. It's strange rereading a quote from a book you loved before you understood anything about people, and realizing it was quietly telling you the truth the whole time.I had this exact edition of Alice in Wonderland as a kid, or one close enough to it.
