Friends of Walpole's Elders

Friends of Walpole's Elders Our group is actively attempting to fundraise upwards of $1 million to supplement the construction and betterment's of the new facility.

History of Project
For many years the Friends of Walpole Elder's has tried to bring parties together and raise funds to build a new facility for Walpole's elder population. Not until now has there been the economic landscape or support for this endeavor. In the Fall of 2014 the override for a new building did not passed. Shortly thereafter, the Selectmen asked the Town Administrator to go back to

determine what the Town could afford to build without an override. After an extensive review with the Town’s financial team, it was determined that the Town could afford a scaled back version of the facilities plan by using cash on hand and by borrowing for each of the Town's major projects separately. In May 2015 Town meeting appropriated $410,000 for Project Management Services and Design for a new COA facility. Catlin and Petrovick was selected to serve as the design Firm for the new facility. In 2016 an article on the Fall Town Meeting Warrant requested that Town Meeting act on a request to appropriate approximately $5,800,000 for the new COA facility. Representatives voted in favor of building a new center for the Walpole elders.
