It is official, Vulcan Lodge #229 will host the Kansas Masonic Foundation / Masonic Cancer Alliance Mobile Cancer Screening Clinic again this year at Walnut Days (Saturday September 5th) from 9am to noon.
This year we will have the brand new state-of-the art mobile screening van.
The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefitting Kansas communities, has partnered with the Masonic Cancer Alliance to contribute over $800,000 to fund a new cancer screening mobile van for the University of Kansas Cancer Research Center. This new investment builds on the already $35 million Kansas Masons have donated to the University of Kansas Cancer Research Center over the past 40 years.
More will be posted about this as the we get closer to Walnut Days.

On Thursday February 19th, Vulcan Lodge, thru a program designed by the Kansas Masonic Foundation, presented the Exemplary Teacher, Para, and Student of the Year Awards during an assembly at the St. Paul High School gym. The award winners were chosen by a vote of the teachers and staff at the school.

The Kansas Masonic Foundation has generously supported Kansas Public Schools throughout our rich history, including the Exemplary Teacher, Para, and Student Awards program. This program was developed to recognize a teacher, para, and student for something exemplary; a random act or careers worthy of achievement. Vulcan Lodge was honored to help recognize these local teachers, paraprofessional, and student.

For the past ten years, Vulcan Lodge has been able to put $13,000 a year into our Walnut community. Working with the Kansas Masonic Foundation we have given out over $8,000 a year in scholarships to over 100 area students. When a deserving student applies and is not selected for a $1,000 KMF scholarship, Vulcan awards $500 per student from our funds.

The main source of income that we have for scholarships comes from the KMF 104-Gun Raffle. Tickets are only $20 and you are in the drawing for all 104 guns. In 2026 a gun will be given away every Monday and Thursday for the entire year. From each ticket sold, $15 comes back to Vulcan.

In the past three years, seven tickets sold by Vulcan have been drawn for a gun. If you purchase a ticket, you have a chance to win but a greater chance to help an area student.

To purchase a ticket, go to: www.KansasMasonic.Foundation. Then click on the "Gun Raffle" tickets. You can view all of the fi****ms and the date that each are to be drawn. When purchasing IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that you select "VULCAN LODGE 229" not "Walnut City Lodge".

Another successful Walnut Trunk or Treat. Vulcan Lodge was happy to participate again with the Walnut Events group.

Once again we hosted our annual Pumpkin Carving Contest, gave out candy, took pictures of all the costumed kids, and offered a free meal (pulled pork, hot dogs, or chilli) to the community. This year was the biggest yet. We fed well over a 125 people.
