Sacred Day of Arafah & Eid ul Adha

Alhamdulillah we are blessed with this sacred month of Dhul Hijjah, these 10 best and most virtuous days of the year, and today the Day of Arafah.

This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islām as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful. - Surah Al Quran 5:3

This month we honor the legacy of Ibrahim (AS) and his family for their love, sacrifice, and total trust and devotion. Hopefully we all can utilize the most out of it by increasing our good deeds, including our worship and du'aa, gratitude for the blessings, acts of kindness and charity.

Kid Who Stole The Show

It's always a joy to see young kids come to volunteer at our events. Recently, a volunteer brought his son, Talha, who is almost 6 years old. Little Talha was everywhere, sorting and unloading donations, pushing boxes, grabbing aid, and offering it to the wildfires impacted folks. Of course, his favorite role was offering cookies and toys to other kids but he had fun in everything, sometimes even carrying things as big as himself! We are glad to see the zeal of service being passed down and taught to the next generation.

Match his Zeal

Last week during one of our events, little Mikaeel came up to me presenting a jar filled with cash & change, labelled ‘Mamadan’, as he did not know how to spell Ramadan. This little kid has been volunteering with us for the last 2 years and recently he’d been saving up his money to donate to INSAN during this holy month. His act melted all of our hearts. May Allah reward him and increase his rizq and keep him under His guidance and protection!

We encourage you to match the zeal of this child and donate generously!

For every one of his:
Penny (5¢) - $50
Dime (10¢) - $100
Quarter (25¢) - $250
Dollar ($1) - $1000

Ramadan Mubarak! As we prepare for our annual Ramadan programs, here is a tidbit of history:

-Before interfaith iftars became a regular tradition at most mosques over the past 25 years…
-Before the White House began hosting iftars in the 1990s…
-Before they became common events in Indian political circles…
-Before the famous Bollywood star Dharmendra hosted an iftar in honor of his friend, the legendary actor Dilip Kumar, in the mid-1970s…

INSAN had already initiated and embraced this tradition.
It was around 1973, the late Dr. Syed Hasan, INSAN’s founder, organized an iftar and invited local guests—both Muslims and those of other faiths. It was a pioneering and unprecedented gesture of goodwill, which has continued ever since.

When we launched INSAN for Humanity, we made sure to incorporate this enriching experience into its programs.

This Ramadan, we invite you to support and join Ramadan with INSAN. It will be a profound and transformative experience.

Blankets are a life saving item for those who have to sleep on the street in the freezing cold rainy nights. A warm blanket and a decent meal goes a long way.

It's also a big blessing as they can't afford extra heating bills. We have been distributing blankets at recent events which are greatly appreciated by our guests.

Humanity from Ashes-

Life throws things at you totally unexpected. At the start of this year, some of the Greater Los Angeles areas erupted in blazing wildfires. We shifted our energy towards relief efforts. The fires have no doubt brought people together and it has been a beautiful thing to see. The rising of humanity from the ashes. People from near and far, from all backgrounds, came to help. Just as INSAN's founder, Dr. Syed Hasan, strived to see.

It has also been a humbling reminder that we all are so vulnerable and within minutes we can lose everything. When a calamity happens, it doesn't differentiate who you are, impacting old and young alike, rich and poor, no matter your race. In minutes we saw how one could become homeless.

Therefore we should always care about those around us and give to those in need when we can.

It's going to be a long journey for those impacted and the need will be for a while. INSAN is working with other partners on how to help the victims in their next transitional phases.

DONATE -
Impacted families are depending on critical aid and we need your support and donations to continue our relief work. Please DONATE to our LA Wildfires Relief.

More than 15,000 structures were destroyed, close to 200,000 people displaced (without a home - almost homeless), and 28 confirmed loss of life. These fires are the most destructive in LA history which has charred an area bigger than the city of Paris.

We pray for the safety of everyone. We all live in tinderboxes and may God protect all of us.

People have not only lost their homes, but everything in it. Things from their daily lives, their memories, and in some cases their incomes. This takes a toll physically and financially, but also emotionally. It's especially hard on the young kids and elderly.

INSAN has been assisting in the relief effort for the past two and half weeks at various sites. It has also been overwhelming to see the good of humanity in action. People from all walks of life have been stepping up, some from an hour drive, bringing donations which are being distributed to fire victims.

The Best of Humanity-
Witnessing humanity at its best has been so inspirational. No one is caring or asking who you are or who you voted for. People from all ages, races, denominations need help and people from all backgrounds have been there for them. Despite the negativity all around us, it shows how much potential we have together to lift others, build better societies and a caring world. It has been a remarkable experience and we at INSAN have been honored and humble to be a part of it.

How You Can Help Now -
Impacted families are depending on critical aid and we need your support and donations to continue our relief work. Since we can distribute these items based on demand (it varies each day at each site), the best way is to DONATE for our LA Wildfires Relief so we can try to fill the gaps.

Future Need
The process of relief, recovery, and rebuilding is going to be a long one. We are already working with other partners on how we can help people navigate the next transitional phases.

Our heart goes out to all those who are impacted by the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires. We pray for ease and recovery and thank all those fighting on the frontlines.

As we are shaken up by the devastation and destruction, INSAN is actively monitoring the situation from the relief and recovery standpoint, and working on effective assistance. There are immediate needs such as water, food, shelter and volunteers as well as long term ones. Please donate generously to our LA Wildfire Relief efforts. We know many of you are eager to offer your assistance on the ground and appreciate your support as we work on organizing an effective response.
