The Walnut Creek Youth Council began in the 1970s to offer teen perspectives to the city of Walnut Creek, as well as to develop the civic leadership skills of youth in the community. Due to budget cuts in 2010, the Walnut Creek Youth Council was cut from the city's funding. Determined to continue the council's work, the cabinet transformed the Walnut Creek Youth Council into a self-run organizatio

n. Today, the council operates under the advisory of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Walnut Creek. Recent projects have included the design of the teen section at the Walnut Creek Library, providing suggestions for the Walnut Creek Skate Park, and voicing suggestions to the city General Plan 2025. Our most current projects include the annual Spring Eggstravaganza in Heather Farms Park, inter-district middle school dances, and various charity projects.
