It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic loss of Detective Randy Hoppert of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office on April 9, 2026.

Detective Hoppert was shot and killed while responding to assist fellow officers who came under fire while serving an eviction notice. The suspect continued shooting throughout the neighborhood before being stopped.

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Detective Hoppert served his community with courage and dedication. He leaves behind his expectant wife and child, along with countless colleagues and community members who will forever feel his loss.

We honor his service, his sacrifice, and his memory. Rest in peace, Detective Hoppert. 💙

📻 World Radio Day – Did You Know?
Police radios save critical seconds. A single radio transmission can instantly alert an entire department, coordinate backup, and de-escalate situations—often making the difference between life and death.
For officers, the radio isn’t just equipment. It’s a lifeline.

They run toward danger so we can run away.
But the danger doesn’t always end when the fire is out.
Too many firefighters are battling cancer caused by years of toxic exposure on the job. This isn’t bad luck—it’s the cost of service.
Protect our firefighters. Honor their sacrifice.
Cancer awareness, prevention, and support save lives.

A firefighter’s sacrifice doesn’t always make headlines.
It’s missed holidays. Sleepless nights. Long-term health risks.
It’s running into danger knowing the cost.
They give everything to protect lives they may never know.
Honor their sacrifice. Support our firefighters—on duty and long after the fire is out.

On Handwriting Day, we recognize the importance of a skill that still plays a vital role in law enforcement.

Even in today’s digital world, police officers rely on handwritten notes for field interviews, witness statements, and evidence documentation. These handwritten notes often become official records and can be critical in investigations, reports, and court proceedings.

Clear, accurate handwriting helps ensure facts are preserved, timelines are documented correctly, and justice is served.

Today, we appreciate the attention to detail and professionalism officers bring to every aspect of their work—right down to pen and paper.
