Conservation is a team effort — and this sponsor is a cornerstone of that team. Today we're celebrating our Watershed Level Business Sponsor, Quiet Moose Home, whose leadership strengthens conservation across the entire Walloon Lake Watershed. Their support expands public access to natural spaces. Thank you for protecting the place we all love.

When it comes to wake sports, depth is the single most important factor in reducing ecological impact.

In deeper water, wake energy fades before it reaches the lakebed. But in shallow water, that same energy stirs up sediment, uproots plants, and degrades habitat.

Choosing deeper areas for wake surfing protects Walloon’s clarity and ecology, and it’s one of the easiest ways to Make Waves Wisely. This is why the WLAC recommends keeping wake sports to depths greater than 20 feet.

Be sure to reference our updated wake sports map to help you make waves wisely in the deepest areas of the lake.

We’re honored to receive a $26,843 grant from the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation through the Little Traverse Bay Protection and Restoration Fund to implement the Fields Preserve Trails Restoration Project. Funding will be used to enhance the trail user experience and protect sensitive natural resources at one of our flagship Ambassador Preserves.

The project will reconstruct the trailhead parking lot to reduce runoff, replace an undersized trails culvert near the Schoof’s Creek headwaters with a trail bridge, replace a failing section of boardwalk, and construct a new section of boardwalk along a tributary of Schoof’s Creek.
