And … the Connecticut Trail Census manual counts continue. There’ve been five since last Wednesday, with five one hour sessions to go. C’mon down and say hello - you might see a QRLTAC member basking in the abundant October sunshine! It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.

To all QRLT goers: courtesy of the Connecticut Trail Census, and installed by Aaron B. from the Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments (and thanks to Dan B. from the Shoreline Greenway Trail for the reference), an infrared counter is now present on the Trail (pictured below) just south of the Labyrinth. Its purpose: to quantify current usage, provide an update since the last census taken in 2023, and help maintenance needs, likely Trail growth, and potential funding for those future plans. Thank you Sheila Dravis-Cosgrove for taking the time to count and meet trail goers!

You may again see clipboard toting QRLT Advisory Committee members present near the counter this month, and into November, taking manual counts as well.

Thanks to K&J Tree Service for donating a truckload of wood chips. Do you have an hour or two to volunteer at our work party on Sunday, 9:00-noon? We can use help spreading these over muddy patches on the side trails. Bring shovels and wheelbarrows if you have them.

According to Town Engineer Alison Kapushinski, the vacant house located south of Yalesville-on-the-Green Condominiums will soon be torn down (October 24-25) to make room for the new connection between Main St. and Quinnipiac River Linear Trail in Yalesville!
