Yalesville Little League is saddened to learn of the tragic passing of one of our former players, Christopher Fonteyn after a tragic motorcycle accident at the young age of 24. Chris played his little league career under the Yalesville banner, before playing travel ball, and eventually joining the Sheehan High School baseball team. After leaving Connecticut, Chris continued his love for the game playing men's softball in Kentucky.

Chris's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday November 1st from 4 - 7pm at the Wallingford Funeral Home (809 North Main St. Ext. Wallingford). A Service of Remembrance will be celebrated on Saturday November 2nd at 10am in the funeral home.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to George, Donna, Liv, the entire Fonteyn family, his girlfriend Erika, and all who knew him.

We hope that everyone had a fun and exciting spring season. Registration for the Wallingford/Yalesville Little Leagie Fall Ball season is now open online at www.yalesvillelittleleague.com using our Sports Connect portal. All Yalesville parents, as well as Wallingford parents who played Fall Ball in previous seasons can use their existing login information to register. Along with registering an account on our website, first time players will also have to provide a copy of their birth certificate.

Online registration will be open now through Wednesday, August 21st, with any players interested in playing after that date being added to a waiting list.

Divisions (Ages):
Clinic (4-6): No child pitching - $50
Bronze (6-7): For children likely playing AA next year - $80
Silver (7-10): For children likely playing AAA next year - $150
Gold (9-11): For children likely playing Majors next year - $150
Transitional (12s): For children entering Junior League - $175
Senior League (13-16): For children in Junior League - $175

We are allowing coaches at the Silver, Gold, and upper levels to recruit players for their team as long as the player is age eligible. Silver, Gold, Transitional, and Senior League schedules are done by the District, so there is travel to surrounding towns within our Little League District 5 area, so at least half of your games will be away games.

Volunteers are instrumental to the success of our Fall Ball program. Managers, coaches, team parents and food stand personnel will be needed this fall. As is always the case, if we are unable to secure the appropriate number of managers/coaches for each level of play to give our players a safe and fun experience, there is a possibility we will not field a team(s) in the given level. For those new to coaching, we will be providing a free coaching clinic.

All coaches and volunteers must have had their background checks done for the 2024 season. If a volunteer or coach needs a background check one can be done for him/her at no cost.

Wallingford Little League, Yalesville Little League Announce Historic Merger For 2025 Season

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford Little League and Yalesville Little League are thrilled to announce their merger for the upcoming 2025 season, bringing together two long-standing pillars of youth baseball in Wallingford. This union marks a new chapter in our community’s rich baseball history, promising a brighter future for our young athletes and the sport we all love.

A Legacy of Excellence

For decades, Wallingford Little League and Yalesville Little League have been nurturing young talent, fostering sportsmanship, and creating unforgettable memories on and off the field. Both leagues have been instrumental in promoting the values of teamwork, dedication, and community spirit. This merger will honor the legacies of both organizations while paving the way for an even stronger, united future.

Leadership and Vision

The merger is spearheaded by Ray Gomes, President of Yalesville Little League, and Larry McClure, President of Wallingford Little League. Both leaders have expressed their excitement and commitment to this significant step forward, ensuring that the combined league will uphold the traditions and values that have defined each league.

“I am beyond excited at the prospects of bringing these two great organizations together,” McClure said. “Over the past few years, we’ve worked together on interleague play and, more recently, our combined tournament teams have demonstrated the quality of Wallingford baseball. Formalizing what is already a great working partnership is an ideal outcome for the future of youth baseball in our town.”

“I am excited about what this merger means for the children of our community,” Gomes said. “The geographic boundaries that we once had to abide by are no longer an issue thereby expanding opportunities and providing a better baseball experience for every player. The history of cooperation between both leagues points to a unified future. As players from both leagues come together, new friendships will develop and grow along with our new inclusive league. This merger is about creating one Little League that transcends the individual and builds a program that will benefit all.”

A Community United

Chris Cirri, Vice President of Wallingford Little League, emphasized the positive impact this merger will have on the community: "This merger is a testament to our collective love for baseball and our dedication to providing the best opportunities for our children. By joining forces, we not only strengthen our league but also reinforce the sense of community that makes Wallingford a special place. Together, we will build a future where our youth can thrive, on and off the field."

Exciting Developments Ahead

As part of this merger, significant renovations are planned for our baseball fields, positioning Wallingford as a prime location for baseball in Central Connecticut. These improvements will not only enhance the playing experience for our athletes, but also bring with them the prospect of tournament play and associated economic benefits to our town. The upgraded facilities will be a source of pride for Wallingford, reflecting our commitment to excellence and community development.

Preserving History, Building the Future

The newly formed league will honor the storied histories of both Wallingford and Yalesville Little Leagues. The board will have equal representation from both leagues, ensuring that the integrity and traditions of each are respected and celebrated. This thoughtful approach will provide comfort and assurance to our families and athletes, reinforcing that this merger is about unity and growth.

Join Us in This Exciting Journey

We invite all community members to join us in celebrating this historic merger. Together, we will continue to foster a love for baseball, nurture young talent, and create a stronger, more vibrant community. This merger is more than just a union of two leagues; it is a commitment to our youth, our sport, and our town.

Stay tuned for more updates on the merger and the upcoming renovations. We look forward to an exciting 2025 season and beyond!

We just want to take the time to thank all the players, coaches, parents, and volunteers who marched for our league during yesterday's Memorial Day Parade, as well all the community members who cheered us on! A special thank you also goes out to Tania and Alex Lawrence for organizing the group and capturing all the precious moments. The rain held out long enough for our league to represent and properly honor all those military personnel who have died in the line of duty.
