HISTORY:
The Wallingford Chorus was founded in 1970 to celebrate the Town of Wallingford’s Tercentenary. For more than four decades, the chorus has promoted the appreciation and enjoyment of choral music in central Connecticut. The chorus is a non-profit, tax-deductible 501(c)(3) organization which is funded in part by the Town of Wallingford’s Parks and Recreation, dues from its members, concert proceeds and various fundraising activities such as raffles, wine tastings, special events, donations and program ads. We are active members of the Association of Connecticut Choruses and American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. The chorus performs two concerts a year, one in December and one in May. In recent years, the members have progressed from singing light repertoires to more complex pieces including selections of multi-cultural works in a number of languages. Past choral accomplishments include works from the major repertoire such as Mozart Requiem, Fauré Requiem, Vivaldi Magnificat, opera choruses and songs of Broadway and Cinema.
