After months of planning, countless generous donations, incredible community support, and more than a little behind-the-scenes magic, Soul Friends’ Evening Under the Stars is finally almost here!

Tomorrow, we gather not just for an evening of celebration, but to honor the extraordinary connections between people and animals, the healing that comes from those relationships, and the beautiful community that makes Soul Friends possible.

What a morning!

Today, Soul Friends had the incredible opportunity to visit Good Morning Connecticut on WTNH News 8 to talk about the healing power of animals, the work happening every day at Soul Friends, and our upcoming An Evening Under the Stars celebration. 💙

Soul Friends Board Member Danielle Gonyea joined Jean Ruggiero, LMSW, one of our incredible Soul Friends therapists — along with a very special four-legged guest, Boo Boo! 🐶⭐

Danielle shared her perspective not only as a member of our Board of Directors, but also as the mother of three neurodivergent children who receive services through Soul Friends. Jean shared the therapist’s perspective on the powerful connections that can happen when animals become part of the therapeutic process.

Together, they got to share something that is at the very heart of Soul Friends: this work is more than a program. For families like Danielle’s, it’s personal. 💙

We are so grateful for the opportunity to share a little bit of the Soul Friends story with Connecticut. For 25 years, Soul Friends has brought people and animals together to create connection, healing, confidence, and hope — and there is so much more still ahead.

As we count down to October 16th, we wanted to answer a simple question:

What is Soul Friends?

For 25 years, Soul Friends has used animal-assisted therapy to support children, families, first responders, veterans, and adults in our community.

Sometimes healing looks like sitting quietly beside Saoirse the horse. Sometimes it’s the comfort of Boo Boo, our Japanese Chin, curled up nearby. Sometimes it’s the simple joy of playing Candyland with Howie the bunny. These animals help create moments where walls come down, trust can grow, and people can feel safe enough to take the next step in processing their grief and begin healing.

That is what An Evening Under the Stars is celebrating — 25 years of connection, healing, and hope, and the future of the work still ahead. 💙
