Great news for expectant families!

Providence St. Mary Medical Center is pleased to announce that we are now offering prenatal lactation care services. Expectant parents can meet with one of our Board-Certified Lactation Consultants for comprehensive support.

Our services include:
• Personalized review of your feeding goals
• Ensuring you and your baby are prepared for a successful breastfeeding experience
• Guidance on choosing a breast pump offered through your insurance provider
• Review health conditions that may influence breastmilk production & latch
• Connecting with other breastfeeding parents on similar journeys

Limited Head Start Preschool Slots Available for 2025-2026!

Walla Walla Public Schools is excited to announce that a limited number of openings remain for its free (income based) Head Start Preschool Program, beginning September 2, 2025.

Head Start offers a high-quality preschool experience designed to prepare children for kindergarten while providing wraparound services for the whole family. This federally funded program supports each child’s cognitive, social, and emotional growth, as well as health and physical development. The program also emphasizes the vital role of parents as their child’s first and most important teacher, fostering strong partnerships between families and schools.

Program Highlights:
• No cost to families (income based)
• School hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – 8 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.; Wednesday – 8 a.m. to 1:40 p.m.
• Meals provided: Free breakfast, lunch, and snack daily
• Wraparound services for children and families
• Strong kindergarten readiness curriculum focused on language, literacy, cognition and social-emotional skill

Head Start is more than just a preschool—it’s a family development program that connects families to community resources, supports positive parent-child relationships and encourages lifelong learning.

The City of Walla Walla will be holding their comprehensive plan open house at the Public Library from 4:30-6:30 pm. Pizza will be provided! This will be a “come and go”, open house style event with a rolling slide show, tables/ booths for different topic areas, and participation activities. Come explore what the Comprehensive Plan is all about, share your ideas, ask questions, and connect with City staff and neighbors. Your voice matters—let’s build the future of Walla Walla together!
