Limited Head Start Preschool Slots Available for 2025-2026!
Walla Walla Public Schools is excited to announce that a limited number of openings remain for its free (income based) Head Start Preschool Program, beginning September 2, 2025.
Head Start offers a high-quality preschool experience designed to prepare children for kindergarten while providing wraparound services for the whole family. This federally funded program supports each child’s cognitive, social, and emotional growth, as well as health and physical development. The program also emphasizes the vital role of parents as their child’s first and most important teacher, fostering strong partnerships between families and schools.
Program Highlights:
• No cost to families (income based)
• School hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – 8 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.; Wednesday – 8 a.m. to 1:40 p.m.
• Meals provided: Free breakfast, lunch, and snack daily
• Wraparound services for children and families
• Strong kindergarten readiness curriculum focused on language, literacy, cognition and social-emotional skill
Head Start is more than just a preschool—it’s a family development program that connects families to community resources, supports positive parent-child relationships and encourages lifelong learning.
