This past Saturday’s LaPaz Auto Mania was a great day, and we are incredibly thankful for everyone who came out to support it! From the awesome vehicles that rolled in to everyone who stopped by to check them out, we loved seeing such a great turnout!

Now that we’ve had some time to sit down and look at the final numbers from our emergency relief responses in Chesterton and Munster, Indiana, we wanted to share just how much was accomplished!

1,170 FREE MEALS SERVED
$935.19 TOTAL COST
$1,194.00 RAISED
That means it cost us only about $0.80 per meal served!

Between both communities, we went through an incredible amount of food and supplies:

79 dozen eggs — 948 eggs
40 trays of biscuits — 960 biscuits
132 quarts of gravy
110 lbs. of oranges
66 lbs. of bananas
96 hot dogs
168 egg sandwiches
168 slices of cheese
288 bottles of water
251 small to-go containers
220 large to-go containers

None of this would have been possible without the people who donated, volunteered, cooked, served, helped organize, and supported us along the way.

Because of your generosity, every dollar spent on these two responses was covered by donations, leaving $258.81 that can go toward helping Operation Lend A Hand prepare for the next time a community needs us.

What started as our first emergency relief breakfast turned into 1,170 meals served across two communities in just two days.

Join us Saturday, August 22nd, for a morning filled with cool cars, great food, and community fun all while supporting Operation Lend A Hand!

Gates open at 7:00 a.m.
Car show from 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Awards at 12:15 p.m.
Vehicle registration: $20 per car
Swap meet spaces: $15

Wow, what a long couple of days it has been!

Today, we were up bright and early again and headed to Munster, Indiana, where we served another 520 free hot breakfast meals!

Today’s breakfast included approximately:

29 dozen eggs, that’s 348 eggs!
170 egg sandwiches
More than 250 cups of coffee
Roughly 360 biscuits
And 66 quarts of gravy

None of this would have been possible without each and every one of our dedicated volunteers. They worked incredibly hard to prepare and serve these meals, and we cannot thank them enough!

We would also like to thank the Munster Lions Club for allowing us to use their wonderful community building. While we were there, we had the opportunity to speak with Mike Andrade for Indiana State Representative - District 12 and learn more about his role in helping his district through these challenging times.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, supported us, or helped make this response possible. It truly takes a community coming together to make a difference!

After serving more than 600 meals today, Operation Lend A Hand has decided to head to Munster, Indiana, on Sunday!

We will once again be providing a FREE hot breakfast, consisting of Biscuits and gravy and Egg sandwiches

We estimate it will cost approximately $500 to purchase enough food to serve 600 people. If you would like to support this effort, donations can be made through Venmo or PayPal. Every donation no matter the amount helps!

We are also looking for volunteers! If you’re willing to serve alongside us, please message our page or contact Reese Weil directly at 574-780-0097.
