Conflicting emotions can make this time of year complicated . . . backpacks are being distributed, which is the MOST FUN, but some sponsors are receiving the sad news that the children they have sponsored have stopped attending school and will no longer be participating in the program.

Today's post shares some background information about why children in these villages leave school when they do . . . and how we're working to change that!

Hello Friends in the Frederick Area!

We're busy packing boxes for the shipment to Honduras and we're running out of CLOTHING! (Yikes! Don't worry, Jim and I are fully dressed!)
. . . . . . . . I mean we're almost out of clothing to use as filler and padding in the boxes. ;-)

It is very important that boxes are packed tightly with no empty space so they don't get crushed in the container. Rather than bubblewrap, we use clothing, linens, towels -- Anything made of cloth that can serve as filler and padding.

NEEDED: Any good condition clothing items from child to adult sizes up to adult size large. Any season clothing even winter jackets and sweaters are appreciated -- it gets into the 40's and 50's in the mountains and buildings are not heated. Brrrrr!

Donations can be dropped off any time on our covered front porch at 7047 Blue Mountain Rd, Thurmont. No need to call ahead. However, if you have a bag of clothing but no way to get it to us, please send a message and we'll arrange a convenient pick up.

Hello Friends Local to Frederick MD! We got an early shipment of children's shoes (2,000 pairs!) and we're repacking them in bags to save space on the container. We would love to have helpers for this task. If you've got an hour or 3 or 4 over the next week or so -- message or text me. Or just show up! I promise we will NOT turn you away! Location is my house in Thurmont. Thanks!
