Dog Show Done!
These youth worked HARD with their animals to get where they are today. They'll keep hanging out for the rest of the year with the Bark Buddies K9 Club (free to 4-H members), a new training cohort opens up over the summer.

This summer training is a great opportunity for youth and their dog to bond and learn communication, and you won't find a less expensive or more youth-friendly opportunity! Registration includes entry in the Foothills dog show (and by extension, to the Fair!)

Don't be fooled, these silly youth brought their A-games.
Come check out the dog obedience show tomorrow night, the rabbit show on Saturday, followed by the costume contest (still taking entries for that!)

South Carolina 4-H Be a Food Scientist Project!
Ages 7–18 (with kitchen helper for younger youth)
🗓 Project Dates: Oct 19 – Dec 18, 2026
💵 Cost: $20

Youth will:
🔬 Explore Food Science Careers, create a new beverage and turn chemical reactions into a sweet treat!
📖 Complete a 4-H Project Record Book with notes, photos, and reflections
🎥 Learn from 3 videos and 3 newsletters
👩‍🍳 Enjoy hands-on activities the whole family can try
💡 Discover food science tips, fun facts, and career connections

🎉 Project Finale: Dec 18 at 6:00 p.m. with a Kahoot quiz and celebration!

📅 Record Book Submission: Due to the County 4-H agent by Jan 22, 2027, for state awards consideration.

SC 4-H Team Cooking Challenge Nov 14 at the Farm in Florence 1
This is an annual competitive event where senior 4-H teams of 2–4 members prepare, cook, and plate a designated meal (such as a chicken dish with a starch and vegetable) in less than an hour!
Registration opens Sept 21 - but your agent has to register your team! SO, if you're interested, start roping in some friends!

Upstate SC Young Birders Club
Jr. Naturalist and WHEP champion Aerin Skye Graham has started a birding club for youth! Join her for our Sept 24th Jr. Nat Ornithology class, AND these Upstate SC Young Birders Club events:

IN-PERSON EVENT- Saturday, September 19th- Hawkwatch at Sassafras Mountain with Ed Moorer

ONLINE EVENT- Beginning this month you can also join a monthly online in-between meeting- Come learn about how to use eBird. Sunday PM 9/13. In these online meetings we will also talk about birds we have seen recently, useful websites, and play some games.
