Prayers of Warmth began in July 2017 after Tanner Stewart went to Heaven in June, suddenly and at only 22 years old. We crochet “Tannerghans” (prayer afghans) in memory of Tanner and donate them to an organization in Maine called Day One. Day One has three residential facilities that help teenagers overcome substance addiction and co-occurring illnesses. Over the course of two years, we have donated 47 afghans to Day One! After much consideration and prayer, I had decided June would be our last delivery. Then the pandemic hit Maine. Our state is slowly reopening but we wouldn’t be able to make the June deadline. Because of this, the (new) last delivery will be in December.

I have met new people, crocheted beautiful blankets and collected even more beautiful ones from others. I want to thank each and every one of you who have crocheted, knitted, donated and prayed for us. I think it’s a good time for Prayers of Warmth to step aside.

Our goal for December 2020 is 13 afghans, that will give us a total of 60 afghans donated in 2.5 years. Afghans are due by December 18th. If you think you can help, please message me here or email [email protected]. I will keep everyone updated on our progress and let you know if the delivery date once I have it scheduled!

Again, thank you for the prayers and help in this ministry I surely could not have done it without all of you! 💙❤️🖤 Samantha White

Usually Prayers of Warmth would deliver in June. Because of social distancing and a stay at home order, I contacted the Day One facility we usually deliver to. They have agreed we can push back our delivery until mid August. We do not have a firm date yet and I will not schedule anything until our future is a bit more clear. We are still encouraging crocheting, especially during these times! If you crochet something and can keep it in your home for us that is great. If you do not have room for it you can mail it. I will leave the package in our garage for a couple weeks before opening. If you take pictures before you mail it I can post those! Stay safe and healthy! Practice social distancing!

Prayers of Warmth Goodbye
Prayers of Warmth began in July 2017 after Tanner Stewart went to Heaven in June, suddenly and at only 22 years old. Day One has three residential facilities that help teenagers overcome substance addiction. Over the course of two years, we have donated 47 afghans to Day One! After much consideration and prayer, I have decided that the June delivery will be our last delivery for this small ministry. I have met new people, crocheted beautifully blankets and collected even more beautiful ones from others. I want to thank each and every one of you who have crocheted, knitted, donated and prayed for us. I think it’s a good time for Prayers of Warmth to step aside.

Thank you to Samantha White and Cora Redwine for these lovely blankets and scarves! We also received a donation of hats that I haven’t photographed because my porch is still wet. 😔

The next delivery is the second week of December. Our goal for 2019 is 22 “Tannerghans” (which are throw size blankets); in June, we delivered 9 Tannerghans so we have 13 to go. I currently have three finished blankets in my possession.

Are there three people able to commit to crocheting or knitting a Tannerghan for October? Please contact this page or Samantha Dimmick through messenger if you’re willing to help! 💙❤️🖤 If you’ve already committed to a Tannerghan for October, please disregard this message!
