Prayers of Warmth began in July 2017 after Tanner Stewart went to Heaven in June, suddenly and at only 22 years old. We crochet “Tannerghans” (prayer afghans) in memory of Tanner and donate them to an organization in Maine called Day One. Day One has three residential facilities that help teenagers overcome substance addiction and co-occurring illnesses. Over the course of two years, we have donated 47 afghans to Day One! After much consideration and prayer, I had decided June would be our last delivery. Then the pandemic hit Maine. Our state is slowly reopening but we wouldn’t be able to make the June deadline. Because of this, the (new) last delivery will be in December.
I have met new people, crocheted beautiful blankets and collected even more beautiful ones from others. I want to thank each and every one of you who have crocheted, knitted, donated and prayed for us. I think it’s a good time for Prayers of Warmth to step aside.
Our goal for December 2020 is 13 afghans, that will give us a total of 60 afghans donated in 2.5 years. Afghans are due by December 18th. If you think you can help, please message me here or email [email protected]. I will keep everyone updated on our progress and let you know if the delivery date once I have it scheduled!
Again, thank you for the prayers and help in this ministry I surely could not have done it without all of you! 💙❤️🖤 Samantha White
