Today, we are highlighting an important addition to the Waldwick Police Department and Waldwick School District.

In partnership with the Borough of Waldwick and the Waldwick Board of Education, we are proud to welcome two Class 3 – Special Law Enforcement Officers (SLEOs) to our schools. For the first time, officers will be assigned to the district, adding another layer of protection for our students and staff.

Safety has been a top priority over the past several years, and this is another step in ensuring that our community is protected to the best of our ability. While we all must remain diligent and aware, help is now much closer should an emergency occur.

👮‍♂️ Meet our SLEOs:
Mario Cartas – Retired Detective Sergeant, Union City Police Department
Michael Christiansen – Retired Police Officer, City of Englewood Police Department

Bergen County OEM is continuing to monitor a rain event that is expected to affect our area with heavy thunderstorms, beginning this afternoon through Friday afternoon. Current forecasts estimate 1 -2 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts possible. The heaviest rain will be late this afternoon through midnight.

Runoff may result in minor to moderate flash flooding of rivers, small creeks, streams, and other low lying and flood prone locations. Urban flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas is likely.

Our DPW crews are out cleaning catch basins and culverts ahead of the storms and will be monitoring throughout. Please be sure to take appropriate actions to protect your home and property and be safe.

In the event of an emergency call 911 or the Waldwick Police Department at 201-652-5700

With the increased use of E-Bike's in the area we wanted to provide some useful tips.

Please travel with the direction of traffic. Helmets save lives. Helmets should always be worn and MUST be if under 17.

Motor vehicle tickets can be issued to E-Bike riders. Some tickets carry a penalty of points which could lead to license suspension or prevent a minor from receiving their driver's license. If involved in an accident with cars or pedestrians riders can be found at fault. This could result in tickets being issued and/or being responsible for damages.

Have fun and be safe.
