We greatly appreciate President Donald J. Trump’s attention to this issue and his request for the Department of Justice to investigate possible anticompetitive actions by the meatpacking industry. For far too long, there has been a growing disconnect between the prices paid to America’s cattle producers and the prices consumers pay at the grocery store.

We fully support a thorough investigation to expose and correct any unlawful market manipulation.

R-CALF USA applauds the administration for taking steps to defend fair competition, protect American ranchers, and ensure integrity across the beef supply chain.

Bringing in more foreign beef is not the solution to lowering beef prices. It’s the same failed policy that has hollowed out our rural communities, shrunk America’s cow herd, and given multinational corporations more control over our food supply.

The packers import beef from about 20 countries, including Argentina, and sell it beside U.S. beef with no label to tell the difference. Without mandatory country of origin labeling (MCOOL), consumers can’t choose American beef and packers have no reason to lower prices.

Tell Congress to oppose any increase in beef imports from Argentina, especially while the United States still lacks MCOOL, and urge them to restore MCOOL for beef.

Put America’s cattle industry first. More imports are not the answer.

We urge President Trump to manage imports, restore MCOOL for beef, and put an end to the monopolistic control that packers and retailers have over our beef supply chain. Doing so will incentivize America’s ranchers to rebuild and expand the U.S. herd to meet our national security needs and ensure that consumer beef prices are determined by competitive market forces.

That’s a wrap for the 2025 Scott County Fair! Thank you to every single person who came out and supported these kids last night! Every year we don’t think it can get any better, and every year it gets better! This was by far our largest premium sale! With only 35 animals in the sale and it still surpassed any year to date! Thank you to everyone who came this morning and bought pullets. That money will buy chicks for next years pullets. Thank you to the parents who are raising good, hardworking, respectful kids! There would not be a county fair without these kids! We had an awesome group of kids this year and it really made it enjoyable! See you all at the 2026 Scott County Fair ✌️✌️

The 4H poultry chain auction starts at 11:30 this morning! If you need some good pullets that are just starting to lay, this will be the best place to get them!
