Today, June 19th, 2026, Juneteenth calls us to reflect on how far we’ve come and the work still ahead. It encourages honest conversations about race and justice, uplifts the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement, and reminds us that the pursuit of equality continues. Communities celebrate through parades, festivals, family gatherings, storytelling, music, education, and acts of service — all rooted in unity and hope.

For Ready4Life, Juneteenth is more than a holiday. It is a reminder to our youth and families that freedom is powerful, that our history matters, and that excellence is our inheritance. It invites us to honor our past, celebrate our culture, and stay committed to building a future grounded in justice, dignity, and opportunity for all.

VOTING IS A CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY.
Civic responsibility starts at home—and it grows stronger when we nurture it together.

For young people, what you see and hear at home shapes how you show up in the world. And for adults, the way we engage—by staying informed, having conversations, and participating in the voting process—sets a powerful example.

With the primary election approaching, this is an opportunity for all of us to take part. Whether it’s learning about candidates, talking through important issues, or showing up to vote, every step matters.

To our youth: your voice is important now, and getting involved early builds confidence, awareness, and opportunity.

To our families and community members: your guidance, support, and example help create space for young people to grow, make positive choices, and believe their voices matter—no matter where they’re starting from.

Make a plan to vote in the upcoming primary—bring someone with you, talk about the issues, and show what civic engagement looks like in action.
When we engage together, we strengthen not just our systems—but each other.
Let’s stay informed, stay connected, and show up.

KNOW BEFORE YOU VOTE: BECOMING AN INFORMED VOTER

Being part of a strong community means more than showing up—it means showing up informed.

As the primary election approaches, now is the time to learn about the candidates and the issues that impact our community. An informed voter is an empowered voter.

Here are simple ways to get started:
• Visit candidate websites and review their priorities
• Attend or watch candidate forums and town halls
• Read local news and voter guides
• Have conversations with others in your community

You don’t need to know everything—but it is important to understand enough to make a thoughtful decision.

Consider asking candidates:
• What are your top priorities for our community?
• How will you support youth and families?
• How will you stay accountable to those you serve?

When we take time to learn, we elevate the quality of our participation and strengthen our collective voice.
Let’s commit to being informed, thoughtful, and engaged.
It’s Everyone’s Business.

WE'RE ALMOST THERE - AND EVERY VOICE TRULY MATTERS!
For young people and families, this is your moment to turn awareness into action. Civic engagement isn’t just about one day—it’s about showing up, staying connected, and supporting one another along the way.

To our youth: getting involved now builds confidence and reminds you that your voice has value.

To our families and community: when you vote and bring others along, you help create a culture where young people feel seen, heard, and encouraged.

Make your plan, show up, and bring someone with you.
Together, we’re not just participating—we’re strengthening our community and creating opportunities for growth, second chances, and a better future for all.
