Thanks to the University of Maryland Master Charles County Master Gardeners, University of Maryland Extension, the Resilience Authority Youth Corps and Mary Owens for harvesting produce from the Southern Maryland Food Bank - Giving Hope Garden. The produce is shared with the Charles County residence who visit the food bank pantry.

Grateful for an amazing Pantry Partner Resource Day on June 25 at Lifestream Church of the Nazarene! Our partners learned about grant writing, retail recovery, MFB programs, health/mental care, and fresh produce procurement — all tools that help us better serve Southern Maryland families.
Thank you, Rev. Jared Willemin and the Lifestream members, for welcoming us so warmly. And a big shout out to our speakers for sharing such important knowledge.

Since March 2026, the Southern Maryland Food Bank’s Meals and Hope Truck has served more than 800 residents across Charles and St. Mary’s counties. Each meal has been prepared with care and compassion by our amazing partners: LaPlata UMC, St. Ignatius – Chapel Point, Posh Catering (Baltimore), Kitchen Works Catering (Washington, D.C.), and The Jaycees (Waldorf).
We are deeply grateful to the community locations that welcome the Meals and Hope Truck and allow us to serve their neighbors: In His Community (Bryans Road) Pisgah (LaPlata) St. Mary’s Parish Hall (St. Mary’s City) Church of Ascension (Lexington Park) New Hope Community Outreach (Waldorf) and Christ Church Durham (Nanjemoy)
To our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and partners — thank you. Your commitment makes this mission possible. Together, we are feeding the community and addressing food insecurity, one meal, one neighbor, and one act of kindness at a time.

What a wonderful time we are experiencing at the Southern Maryland Food Bank, from receiving donated hygiene products from the Delta Sorority & the Thomas Stone High School Honor Society, to over 2,000lbs. of salads & vegetables from a Freight Co, to a Birthday Food Drive donation of 800+ lbs.; since March served over 800 hot meals to Charles and St. Mary’s Counties food desert communities; participated as a vendor at the Veterans Career Day at the Pisgah Volunteer Fire Department, the Indian Head Elementary School Community Day; sponsored the LaPlata Manor Senior Appreciation Day; distributed 284 fresh produce boxes, 80 hot lunches & 484 SNACK Saks to 7 Senior facilities in Charles and St. Mary’s Counties.

It was a hot day, but the community of the Church of the Ascension, Lexington Park, Maryland came out and welcomed the delicious hot meal and a cold bottle of water. In addition to the meal, they also received a bag of groceries and hygiene products. Thanks to Kim and Joshua for support
