During Mental Health Awareness Month, Kemet Court #237 wants to gently remind everyone that African American women often carry a tremendous emotional load, and many of us experience higher rates of depression while feeling pressured to stay “strong” instead of seeking help. If you’re noticing persistent mood changes, trouble sleeping, changes in appetite, loss of interest, or feelings of hopelessness lasting more than two weeks, please know these are signs that deserve care and attention. Prioritizing rest, moving your body, nourishing yourself, staying connected to people who uplift you, practicing mindfulness, and setting firm boundaries are real acts of self-love. And when you need additional support, trusted resources like NAMI’s Sharing Hope program, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, and SAMHSA’s 1‑800‑662‑HELP are available with confidential, culturally responsive help whenever you need it.

Remember, seeking support is a form of strength, and you never have to walk this journey alone.
