Update from the Free Clothing Closet - we help to circulate an astounding amount of clothing. Thankful for all the donations and appreciative of the manageable bag sizes & quality of the clothes -

1,113 bags! That's the total number of bags of clothing donated to us in the first half of 2026. Our average bag of donations weighs about 20 lbs sooooooo.... that's over 22,000 lbs of clothing hitting our racks and given out FREE to our customers.
While bagging up your future donations, please consider our dedicated volunteer team and use MEDIUM sized bags for donations. Larger bags don't fit into our donation bin chute and are too heavy for our volunteers to lift and carry. Thanks for your consideration to our senior volunteers and their achy backs and creaky knees!

The Quilt Raffle starts today and goes through August. Hosted at Good Things, it will benefit the Free Clothing Closet. Both are Medomak Exchange programs!

Beginning Saturday, August 1, Good Things Thrift & Crafts will be hosting a special Afghan Raffle to benefit the Waldoboro Free Clothing Closet !

The Clothing Closet provides free clothing and hygiene products to individuals and families throughout our community, helping ensure that everyone has access to basic necessities with dignity.

Here's how it works:
🎟️ Tickets are just $1 each
🫙 This is a Chinese-style raffle, which means you choose the afghan(s) you'd like to win by placing your ticket(s) into the corresponding jar. Put all your tickets into one favorite or spread them among several - it's up to you!
🧶Choose from four beautiful handmade afghans, each with its own raffle jar

📅 Raffle Dates: Saturday, August 1 – Saturday, August 29 🏆 Winners will be drawn on August 29
📍 Afghans and raffle tickets are at the cash register

Happening tomorrow in the Community Garden space at the Medomak House

In recognition of our summer solstice which happens overnight tonight, as well as Father's Day which is celebrated tomorrow, June 21, we will be planting two cherry trees in the COMMUNITY GARDEN between the driveways at the Medomak House. We will have a brief ritual to mark this passage from calendar spring to calendar summer, our longest time of daylight in the northern hemisphere and the beginning of the turn towards shorter days. If you would like to join us, we will be planting vegetables donated by Moose Crossing in the raised beds beginning at 9:30 and then planting the cherry trees about 11:30. Please come by 124 Friendship St. for any or all of this time tomorrow (before the expected afternoon rain).
(note our evolving garden space as the good dirt is delivered...)
